Val de Reyes Tinto Dulce is the sweet red wine from the Zamoran winery Bodegas Fariña, made from overripe Tempranillo grapes. After manual and late harvesting, the grapes ferment until reaching a sugar level of 125 g/l. To achieve this, it is repeatedly filtered at low temperatures. After vinification in stainless steel tanks, the wine undergoes aging in American oak barrels for four years, using the solera and criadera system.
Founded in 1942 by Salvador Fariña, Bodegas Fariña is one of the most emblematic wineries of the D.O. Toro and one of its great promoters. Currently, Salvador's son, Manuel Fariña, runs the Zamoran winery with the most modern techniques combined with the tradition of the area. The winery produces wines with character, rich in fruit, fresh and structured; the so-called "new wines of Toro," which reflect a characteristic elegance and personality.
Framed within the I.G.P. Vino de la Tierra de Castilla y León, this complex and surprising sweet red wine has a storage capacity of 15 years from its harvest. Val de Reyes Tinto Dulce should be served slightly chilled and is ideal to accompany all kinds of appetizers and sweet desserts, blue cheeses, and chocolates.
Val de Reyes Tinto Dulce displays a dark cherry color with brick-red edges.
On the nose, it presents complex aromas derived from its aging in used barrels. It reminds of tobacco and overripe grapes.
On the palate, it is meaty and smooth, with spicy and complex flavors, wood, and chocolate.
The D.O. Toro would not be the same without the work carried out over the years by its most emblematic winery: Bodegas Fariña, a family-owned winery, pioneering, innovative, and a benchmark in the region. It is the only winery that has been present since the origins of the designation and the firm responsible for the great leap in quality achieved by its wines.
Following in the footsteps of the founder, Salvador Fariña, who began his work in a rudimentary winery dug into the ground in Casaseca de las Chanas, Manuel Fariña López turned this winery into the spearhead of the Tinta de Toro variety. He was a pioneer in Toro in applying winemaking techniques used in the world's most important wine regions, such as fermentation in stainless steel tanks, temperature control during fermentation, and selecting the most suitable barrels for aging wines. A series of innovations that laid the foundations of what many call “the great miracle of Toro”; changes that made it possible to move away from the bold and somewhat heavy wines of a past era to create powerful and elegant wines that have made the D.O. Toro a leading region.
Bodegas Fariña has over 300 hectares of its own vineyards, a true guarantee when producing high-quality wines in the area. Today, Manuel (Manu) Fariña Pérez, son of Manuel and grandson of Salvador, stands as the third generation of winemakers at the winery.
