Viña Mayor is one of the most famous brands of Spanish wine and every year its Crianza is one of the best in its segment in Ribera del Duero. Viña Mayor Crianza 2019 comes with the guarantees of a vintage with an Excellent rating in the D.O. It was created from selected Tempranillo grapes by one of the leading winemakers in Spain: Almudena Alberca, Master of Wine. This is a fresh, floral red with a strong presence of fruit well balanced with subtle notes from ageing.

General Information
With the guarantees of an Excellent-rated vintage skilfully transformed into a superb wine by Almudena Alberca, Spain’s first – and so far only – female Master of Wine, Viña Mayor Crianza 2019 was designed from selected Tempranillo grapes picked by hand from vines located in Ribera del Duero’s famous ‘golden mile’. It’s been aged for 12 months in high-quality French and American oak barrels and matured to perfection in the bottle for a further 12 months at least.
The history of Bodegas y Viñedos Viña Mayor dates back to 1986, when the D.O. Ribera del Duero was starting out. Located in Quintanilla de Onésimo, in the so-called ‘golden mile’ – the most prestigious area of the Denominación – it’s equipped with the latest technology and underground cellars where the wines are aged. The success of its brands (Viña Mayor and Secreto) has enhanced the fame of a winery that’s known all over the world and admired for its wines’ excellent value for money. Respect for the environment is another of its distinguishing features (it holds the Wineries for Climate Protection certificate).
Viña Mayor Crianza 2019 (D.O. Ribera del Duero) is ideal with Asturian bean (fabes) and clam stew, baby lamb chops, meat hotpot and mature cheeses.

Wine with a good concentration of fruit, fresh, floral and well balanced with subtle notes of wood. Very versatile owing to its many nuances and pleasant to drink. We aim to make straightforward and expressive wines of excellent quality that combine the characteristics of the region they come from with a personality of their own, distinctive and memorable..

The upward trajectory of Bodegas y Viñedos Viña Mayor, founded in Quintanilla de Onésimo in 1986, has run parallel to the Ribera del Duero Denomination of Origin, established four years earlier. The success of its two brands, Viña Mayor and Secreto, has only enhanced the reputation of a winery known worldwide and admired for the excellent value for money of its wines.
On the other hand, Viña Mayor is a company highly committed to caring for the planet: it works with plans for energy and water efficiency, resource consumption, and waste generation, which has led it to achieve the Wineries for Climate Protection certification, the only certification in Spain that endorses wineries working sustainably.
In February 2024, the Portuguese company Sogrape acquired the winery from the Entrecanales Domecq e Hijos group.
