The Lorenzo family had a dream: to create their own winery. And they made it come true after acquiring an estate, Finca Los Aljibes, in Chinchilla de Montearagón (Albacete) in the 1990s – a bleak spot, at an altitude of 1,000 metres, where they proved to be pioneers in cultivating vines. They currently own 178 hectares of vines and produce varietal wines that are excellent value for money, such as Viña Galana Tempranillo Rosado 2022. A rosé with a potent palate, great personality and length, with a delicious aftertaste of strawberry caramel.

Viña Galana Tempranillo Rosado 2022 is a single-varietal wine made from Tempranillo grapes by Los Aljibes, the Lorenzo family’s winery located in Chinchilla de Montearagó (Albacete), at an altitude of nearly 1,000 metres. The grapes were harvested when fully ripe and fermented at a low temperature.
Los Aljibes was founded in 2003 in the centre of a spectacular estate that currently boasts 178 hectares of vineyards as well as almond and olive groves, which lie at an altitude of nearly 1,000 metres. The list of the varieties the Lorenzo family grows there is impressive: Tempranillo, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Garnacha Tintorera, Petit Verdot, Syrah, Chardonnay, Verdejo and Sauvignon Blanc.
Lime soils, a continental climate and the altitude are factors conducive to low yields and optimum ripening, which is synonymous with quality. The winery’s exterior reproduces a typical construction of La Mancha, while its interior houses cutting-edge technology. It’s named after two natural underground reservoirs – aljibes – used to water the vineyards.
Viña Galana Tempranillo Rosado 2022 (V.T. Castilla) is perfect with baked fish such as seabream in a salt crust or paella with chicken.
Raspberry-red with violet hues, very clear and bright. Very intense nose with prominent aromas of strawberry, dairy notes and a citrussy background with hints of cut grass. Very potent palate, with plenty of body that lends it personality and length, accentuated by a pleasant acidic bite and a slight bitterness that enhances its elegance. Distinctive aftertaste of strawberry caramel. Very balanced.
Bodegas Los Aljibes is an ambitious family project located in Chinchilla de Montearagón (Albacete), a place that, at first glance, seems quite unusual to host a company of this kind. The winery was built in 2003 in the center of a spectacular estate that spans 178 hectares of vineyard—along with almond and olive trees—at nearly 1,000 meters above sea level. The list of grape varieties cultivated by the Lorenzo family there is impressive and, to say the least, unique: tempranillo, merlot, cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc, garnacha tintorera, petit verdot, syrah, chardonnay, verdejo, and sauvignon blanc. The limestone soils, continental climate, and altitude are factors that promote low yields and optimal ripening, enhancing the quality of the wines.
The winery's exterior replicates a typical Manchegan construction, while its interior houses the most cutting-edge technology. Here, high-expression wines with an excellent quality-to-price ratio are crafted. The wines of Finca Los Aljibes bear the seal of Vino de la Tierra de Castilla. Manuel Lorenzo, the founder's son, is the current General Director. Finca Los Aljibes takes its name from two natural underground water cisterns used to irrigate the vineyard. Another unique feature of the property is its stud farm of Purebred Spanish Horses (in fact, wine tourists can tour the estate in a horse-drawn carriage).
