General Information

The Mediterranean warmth provided by the Garnacha and Cariñena grapes from which this red from the D.O. Catalunya is made afford Sangre de Toro 2021 – furthermore a vegan wine – a unique personality.

The name (meaning ‘bull’s blood’) chosen by Miguel Torres Carbó for the first wine bottled by Bodegas Torres was inspired by Greek wine god Dionysius – represented by the figure of a bull – and by the age-old tradition of grape growing in the Mediterranean countries. All the properties of that first vintage of Sangre de Toro are found in the latest version the Club is offering you. A painstaking selection of the best bunches of Garnacha Tinta and Cariñena and careful vinification, topped off with 6 months in American and French oak barrels, has resulted in an elegant, versatile and authentic red that fully respects the terroir it comes from. Enjoy it with semimature cheeses, stews, game, and rice dishes containing meat.

Tasting notes

Dark cherry-red colour.

Delicious aromas of red fruits (strawberries) with a touch of spice (black pepper).

Warm, firm palate with fine acidity.

The winery

The Torres surname has been linked to winemaking in the Penedès region since the 17th century, although the official founding date of the winery is set in 1870. Generation after generation, this company, based in Vilafranca del Penedès (Barcelona), has remained in family hands, becoming today, quite possibly, the most well-known Spanish winery in the world, with a presence in over 150 countries. A winery with a portfolio of globally renowned brands.
