Tridente Tempranillo 2021 is an exquisite single-varietal wine born from vines with an average age of 80 years, located in the south of the province of Zamora. It is aged for 15 months in French oak barrels and stands out for its intensity, balance, and fruity character.

The sandy soils of El Pego and Villanueva de Campeán, in the south of Zamora, are home to some of the oldest vineyards in the province. The vines that produce the grapes used to craft Tridente Tempranillo 2021 have an average age of 80 years and are part of the finest national wine heritage. Moreover, they impart a youthful and fresh character to the wine, perfectly complemented by the elegance and balance derived from its 15-month aging in French oak barrels.

Despite being produced in the region known as Tierra del Vino de Zamora, Tridente Tempranillo 2021 is classified under the geographical indication V.T. Castilla y León. It was here that brothers Miguel and Ángel Gil, part of the fourth generation of the most renowned winemaking family from Jumilla, established Bodegas Tridente, one of the 11 wineries that make up their wine group Viñas Familia Gil.

Located in Villanueva de Campeán, Tridente is a small winery dedicated, like all of Viñas Familia Gil’s wineries, to maximizing the potential of local native varieties, such as prieto picudo or tempranillo. The latter takes center stage in Tridente Tempranillo 2021, a spectacular wine that pairs perfectly with dishes like pork cheek or beef ragout.

Tasting notes

Black cherry color with a deep layer; very opaque.

On the nose, it shows very good intensity, highlighting aromas of red fruits (blueberries, blackberries), along with floral notes (violet) and hints of aromatic herbs and red caramel.

On the palate, it is flavorful, fresh, juicy, with good balance and an aromatic, youthful character. The finish is long, with hints of aromatic herbs and spicy touches.

The winery

Bodegas Tridente

In 2008, the Gil family (leading the powerful Juan Gil Bodegas Familiares group) brought their expertise to Villanueva de Campeán, 30 km south of Zamora, in the heart of the region known as Tierra del Vino. Here, they founded Bodegas Tridente together with Enrique Busto. A small winery where red wines are crafted using the traditional varieties tinta de Toro (mainly), prieto picudo, and mencía. The vineyards are located in Villanueva and El Pego, with old, low-yield vines from the Bierzo and León regions. Currently, Bodegas Tridente markets the brands Entresuelos, Tridente Mencía, Tridente Tempranillo, Tridente Prieto Picudo, and Rejón.
