Cigales is, par excellence, one of the great Spanish wine regions specialized in rosés. Among its best examples, we highlight Traslanzas Rosado 2024, a wine made from tempranillo and 15% albillo, which reaffirms its reliability year after year. Its aromatic profile is marked by intense notes of red fruit, mentholated nuances, and delicate floral touches. On the palate, it shows a balanced structure and a long, harmonious finish. It is at its optimal moment for enjoyment.

General Information

Traslanzas Rosado 2024 is made with 85% tempranillo and 15% of the white albillo. The grapes come from vineyards over 30 years old, harvested by hand. The destemmed fruits were placed in stainless steel tanks, where the must macerated with the skins for 4 hours. Then, the bleeding process was carried out, obtaining a high-quality must without applying pressure. The skins filter the must that flows through them, giving it a crystalline appearance, so racking is not necessary, which helps enhance the wine's aromatic profile.

Rosés are in fashion: consumers have finally recognized these wines as a fresh, fun, and, above all, high-quality alternative. In Cigales, rosés have always been the preferred and main production. Here, the best vineyards are dedicated to the production of these wines, which is one of the main differences compared to other wine regions.

María Pinacho belongs to the third generation of winemakers from Mucientes (Valladolid), where Traslanzas was the name of an old vineyard planted in 1945. In 1998, she decided to make wine from these old family vineyards. The surprise was that the first Traslanzas released on the market in 2000 was a red wine and not a clarete, as one might expect in Cigales. Together with her husband, the viticulturist Carlos González, they gained momentum in 2018, and today they market three rosés, two reds, and one white wine from the D.O. Cigales.

Traslanzas Rosado 2024 (D.O. Cigales) pairs very well with spaghetti with basil and pine nut pesto or chicken and vegetable skewers.

Tasting notes

The must undergoes alcoholic fermentation at a low temperature of 14ºC, enhancing and preserving the varietal aromas, where red fruits (strawberry and raspberry) are the main descriptors that define it, combined with mentholated tones and white flowers. Dressed in a beautiful currant red color of good intensity, it is fresh on the palate, with great volume and body, long, and a finish full of aromatic sensations that linger over time after consumption.
