Tino 2023 is a unique white wine within the Ribeiro Designation of Origin: the only single-varietal albilla registered in the region, crafted by the colleteiro winery Adega Manuel Formigo using grapes from their Miñoteira and Portela estates. This white variety, almost lost in the area, was recovered by Manuel Formigo's father, from whom this interesting Galician white wine takes its name, captivating with its elegant acidity and concentration.
Manuel Formigo Tino 2023 is the only single-varietal albilla wine registered in the D.O. Ribeiro; a unique characteristic that reflects the winery's commitment to recovering an almost lost variety and bringing it to its fullest expression.
The vineyards that give rise to Tino (Miñoteira and Portela) are located on evolved granite soils (sábrego) settled on very hard bedrock, with a significant content of stones and gravel that enhance the sunlight exposure of the grape clusters. The planting density is 4000 vines/ha with an average age of around 15 years, in an Atlantic climate that provides freshness and marked acidity to the vines. Viticulture is carried out traditionally with manual harvesting and cluster selection.
Manuel Formigo is committed to a meticulous vinification process that respects the delicacy of the albilla grape. The production involves gentle crushing and semi-closed pneumatic pressing, with strict control of the must pressure and small harvest loads to preserve the integrity of the grape. The result is a white wine of remarkable concentration and elegant acidity, produced in a very limited quantity of less than 1000 bottles.
Adega Manuel Formigo works with closeness and respect for the vineyard, maintaining local traditions and striving to recover native varieties. Tino 2023 is a reflection of this philosophy. An ideal white wine to discover the production area of the Avia Valley.
If you're looking for a pairing to enhance its acidity and concentration, Manuel Formigo Tino 2023 pairs excellently with seafood and fatty fish, seafood rice dishes, light Asian cuisine such as sushi or ceviche, and fresh goat cheeses. Its profile also allows it to balance dishes with creamy sauces or roasted vegetables.

Adega Manuel Formigo is a colleiteiro winery established in 2006 in the town of Beade, in the province of Ourense. The small family business of the Formigo de la Fuente family produces, as stipulated by the D.O. Ribeiro regulations, less than 60,000 liters per year of wines made exclusively with grapes from their own harvest.
The vineyard of Adega Manuel Formigo is mainly divided into three plots (Miñoteira, Portela, and Pousos) along the banks of the Avia River. There, on predominantly rocky, loose, and well-oxygenated soils, the winery practices what they call “granite viticulture”, where native varieties such as godello, torrontés, loureira, albariño, treixadura, caiño, tintilla, ferrol, sousón, or brancellao, sourced from the oldest clones in the area, take center stage.
The winery's facilities are located on the ground floor of the old family home of the Formigo de la Fuente family. Using traditional techniques passed down from generation to generation, they produce high-quality wines under the D.O. Ribeiro, faithfully expressing the typicity and terroir from which they originate.
