Tamaral Edición Limitada Crianza 2023 is a wine made 100% from tempranillo grapes sourced from vineyards located at over 900 m altitude, which gives it exceptional freshness. These vineyards are situated in the privileged area of Pesquera de Duero (Valladolid), in the heart of the “golden mile” of Ribera del Duero. Additionally, this Limited Edition, resulting from a selection of batches from the winery’s standard Crianza, is only available at Vinoselección. It unfolds intense fruity and licorice aromas, along with sweet toasted notes provided by its barrel aging. On the palate, it is powerful yet elegant, with smooth and ripe tannins.

Tamaral Edición Limitada Crianza 2023 is a single-varietal tempranillo born from a vintage rated as “Very Good” by the Regulatory Council of Ribera del Duero. This harvest resulted in wines with great aromatic potential, structure, and complexity. The grapes come from estate-owned vineyards located in Pesquera de Duero (Valladolid), at over 900 meters above sea level, on stony and calcareous soils. The yield is limited, below 5,500 kg/ha, ensuring high concentration and quality.
Manual harvesting allows for careful selection of the grape clusters. Fermentation and maceration take place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 26 °C, followed by aging for at least 12 months in French and American oak barrels, which add elegance and complexity to the wine.
The Zamoran couple Ricardo Santiago and Carmen Torío embarked in 1995 on a research project together with a group of friends, several of them agronomic engineers, which culminated two years later in the founding of Bodegas y Viñedos Tamaral in Peñafiel, at the heart of the 'golden mile' of Ribera del Duero. The winery maintains a moderate production, always prioritizing quality. It integrates traditional farming techniques with state-of-the-art equipment; and for winemaking, it combines various containers: stainless steel, concrete tanks, and wooden vats.
Their tempranillo vineyards are between 30 and 100 years old and are located between Peñafiel, Castrillo del Duero, and Pesquera. The Pesquera de Duero estate is their great treasure: it is situated at an altitude of 900 meters, in a plateau area, and hosts different soil types. Thanks to this altitude, the vineyards benefit from greater thermal amplitude between seasons and between day and night. The former ensures a proper annual vine cycle, while the latter promotes the maturation of polyphenols, the accumulation of aromas, and a better acidic balance in the berries.

It encompasses 64 hectares of its own vineyards over 40 years old, located in Pesquera de Duero, Peñafiel, and Castrillo del Duero; and an additional 50 hectares of old vineyards under medium- and long-term lease agreements. It works exclusively with the tempranillo variety and trellis training, and is in the process of converting the vineyards to organic farming. The winery is already organic, producing half a million bottles.
The Pesquera de Duero estate is its great treasure and supplies its Premium wines. This plot is located at an altitude of 900 meters on a plateau, featuring various soil types. Thanks to this altitude, it benefits from a greater thermal amplitude between seasons and between day and night. The first condition ensures an adequate annual vine cycle; the second promotes the maturation of polyphenols, the accumulation of aromas, and a better acidic balance in the berries.
