General Information

In the “Golden Mile” of Ribera del Duero, between Padilla de Duero and Peñafiel (Valladolid), lies Tamaral, a family winery that values a philosophy of effort, unhurried work, and carefully selecting the best terrains. Tamaral Ecológico Crianza 2019 is a fabulous single-varietal tempranillo. Manual harvesting with fermentation and maceration in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 26º C. It is aged for 14 months in French and American oak barrels.

The Zamorano couple, Ricardo Santiago and Carmen Torío, embarked in 1995 on a research project alongside a group of friends, several of whom were agronomists. This project materialized two years later with the founding of Bodegas y Viñedos Tamaral in Peñafiel, right in the heart of the Golden Mile of Ribera del Duero. The winery maintains a moderate production, always prioritizing quality. It integrates traditional agricultural techniques with state-of-the-art equipment; and for winemaking, it combines different containers: stainless steel, concrete tanks, and wooden vats.

The tempranillo vineyards of Bodegas Tamaral range in age from 30 to 100 years and are located between Peñafiel, Castrillo del Duero, and Pesquera. The estate in Pesquera de Duero is their great treasure: situated at an altitude of 900 meters, in a plateau area, it hosts various soil types. Thanks to this altitude, the vineyards benefit from a greater thermal amplitude between seasons and between day and night. The former ensures an adequate annual vine cycle, while the latter promotes the maturation of polyphenols, the accumulation of aromas, and greater acidic balance in the berries.

The red wine Tamaral Ecológico Crianza 2019 (D.O. Ribera del Duero) is ideal for pairing with roasted and grilled meats, vegetables, legume dishes…

Creators' opinion

High color intensity with garnet hues, clean and bright. On the nose, it is very expressive, with high aromatic intensity featuring ripe red fruit aromas and toasted notes from barrel aging. On the palate, it is meaty, round, and well-structured. It presents well-defined tannins. Concentrated, balanced, and long.

The couple from Zamora, Ricardo Santiago and Carmen Torío, embarked in 1995 on a research project alongside a group of friends, several of them agronomists, which materialized two years later in the founding of Bodegas y Viñedos Tamaral in Peñafiel, at the heart of the Golden Mile of Ribera del Duero.

It encompasses 64 hectares of its own vineyards over 40 years old, located in Pesquera de Duero, Peñafiel, and Castrillo del Duero; and an additional 50 hectares of old vineyards under medium- and long-term lease agreements. It works exclusively with the tempranillo variety and trellis training, and is in the process of converting the vineyards to organic farming. The winery is already organic, producing half a million bottles.

The Pesquera de Duero estate is its great treasure and supplies its Premium wines. This plot is located at an altitude of 900 meters on a plateau, featuring various soil types. Thanks to this altitude, it benefits from a greater thermal amplitude between seasons and between day and night. The first condition ensures an adequate annual vine cycle; the second promotes the maturation of polyphenols, the accumulation of aromas, and a better acidic balance in the berries.
