Specimen Nº3 is an inimitable red wine. Born from the coupage of three vintages, with three different winemaking methods, the quality of the grape and the wood play a special role in this unique wine from Finca Villacreces, made from tempranillo and cabernet sauvignon. Simply unmissable.

Specimen Nº3 is the latest masterpiece from Finca Villacreces (D.O. Ribera del Duero). Although Grupo Artevino has accustomed us to outstanding wines, Specimen Nº3 is undoubtedly a unique wine. Made from the finest tempranillo (85%) and cabernet sauvignon (15%) grapes from the estate, it is a coupage of three different vintages where wood plays a fundamental role.
Depending on the organoleptic characteristics of each variety and plot, the grapes undergo alcoholic fermentation in wooden vats and stainless steel tanks. The malolactic fermentation takes place in barrels and French oak tanks, followed by an aging process of 48 months in Bordeaux barrels and 1200-liter vats, which shaped the structure of this spectacular wine under the D.O. Ribera del Duero. With a limited production, this is a collector's wine highly recommended for those curious about enological treasures.
Finca Villacreces is located in the heart of the “Golden Mile” of Ribera del Duero. A hidden estate, surrounded by pine forests, that holds a hidden wine heritage of old vines of exceptional quality. Alongside other wineries such as Vetus (D.O. Toro) or Izadi (D.O. Rioja), Finca Villacreces is backed by Grupo Artevino, one of the most renowned winemaking groups nationally today, thanks to a work philosophy based on consistency and quality.
On the eye, Specimen Nº3 presents a beautiful intense cherry red color, with garnet reflections.
It displays great complexity on the nose, where aromas of ripe fruit, licorice, mineral and balsamic nuances stand out, along with very well-integrated wood.
The palate has a voluminous and oily entry that accompanies until the finish. The aromas anticipated on the nose are carried through to the tasting phase, once again evoking memories of licorice, fruit, and coffee.
In 2004, the Artevino group acquired Finca Villacreces, a spectacular estate with centuries of history in a privileged location, within the area known as the ‘Golden Mile’ of Ribera del Duero, with vineyards adjacent to the legendary Vega Sicilia. After the renovation of the existing winery (founded in 1994) and meticulous work on vineyard recovery, Finca Villacreces embarked on a successful journey, becoming one of the most outstanding wineries in Ribera del Duero.
Finca Villacreces boasts 64 hectares of vineyards divided into 15 different plots (based on soil, altitude, exposure, microclimate, vine training systems…), and each variety is cultivated in the site where it best adapts. The main grape is tempranillo, complemented by other French-origin varieties such as cabernet sauvignon and merlot.
Finca Villacreces is part of the Artevino group and produces the brands Pruno (the best Spanish wine under $20 according to guru Robert Parker), Finca Villacreces, and the top-tier Nebro.
