General Information
Soplo 2023 is a single-varietal Garnacha originating from vineyards located on the terraces of Fontanars dels Alforins, at an altitude of 700 meters, cultivated on sandy-loam soil with stones on the surface. These characteristics and a low-intervention policy in the field and winery processes resulted in an elegant, balanced, and easy-to-drink Mediterranean red by Rafael Cambra.
Rafael Cambra is a winemaker from Valencia who founded his own winery in 2001, but it wasn't until 2008 that he moved it to the place where he has the vineyards to manage them in the style of French chateaux. There, in Fontanars dels Alforins, he began producing wine from his Monastrell vines (Uno) and decided to expand the range with foreign varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. With the aim of recovering local varieties, the winery has been committed since 2011 to making wines with the almost extinct Forcallat and the Arco variety, among others.
The low-intervention processes of the winery are also observed in the vinification phase, with fermentation in small 5000-liter stainless steel tanks with light pump-overs and maceration at 22 ºC for 10 days. Additionally, the wine undergoes 16 months of aging in a 17,000-liter vat and concrete tanks.
Under the D.O. Valencia, Rafael Cambra's red wine Soplo 2023 is the perfect complement to rice dishes, mushrooms, níscalos, dishes with gelatinous meat, and creamy sauces.
Tasting notes
Bright cherry color with medium depth.
On the nose, it is elegant, with notes of red fruits, spices, and marked aniseed touches.
On the palate, it is balanced, fresh, and with very well-integrated acidity.
