The Raventós Codorníu group established itself in 1999 in Mendoza, the heart of Argentina's wine production, creating Bodega Séptima. In its top line ‘Obra,’ it seeks the best expression of each varietal, in this case, chardonnay, the star of the white vineyards in Mendoza. Specifically, Séptima Obra Chardonnay Reserva 2024 is sourced from old vines in the Uco Valley. These are vines that thrive at an altitude of 1100 meters and benefit from a cold climate, ideal for producing aromatic white wines like chardonnay. It undergoes 8 months of aging in French oak, and upon uncorking, we discover aromatic breadth, varietal typicity, complexity, and freshness.

In the Uco Valley (north of the Mendoza province), the altitude and cold climate favor the production of aromatic white wines such as chardonnay. Here, in the Agua Amarga area, lie the chardonnay vineyards that are the origin of Séptima Obra Chardonnay Reserva 2024. Vines nearly 50 years old thrive at 1100 m altitude, in deep sandy soils.

Once the grape clusters arrived at the winery, they underwent direct pressing and cooling, and the first juices obtained were separated to ferment with selected yeasts. Once fermentation began, part of the must was transferred to 500-liter French barrels of second and third use, while the rest was left to ferment in stainless steel tanks at a temperature of 13 ºC. After alcoholic fermentation was complete, natural malolactic fermentation occurred. The wines in stainless steel and barrels were aged for 8 months, and then the blend was created. Finally, this white wine spent several months refining in the bottle before being released to the market.

Bodega Séptima is part of the Raventós Codorníu wine group, one of the families with the longest winemaking tradition in Spain (since 1551). Raventós Codorníu already owned six wineries in Spain when, in 1999, they decided that the ‘seventh’ – hence its name – would be established in a region that amazed the world with its potential: Mendoza, in Argentina. They arrived here and in 2001 inaugurated Bodega Séptima in the Agrelo area, in Luján de Cuyo (Mendoza), at the foot of the Andes and 1050 meters above sea level. Today, it is one of the most attractive wineries in Mendoza. The pillars of its philosophy: European heritage and expertise, a commitment to owning vineyards, the production of premium wines, and respect for the terroir.

The white wine Séptima Obra Chardonnay Reserva 2024 (Uco Valley, Mendoza) pairs perfectly with a mushroom risotto or grilled fish such as sea bream.

Tasting notes

Intense golden yellow color.

It presents a complex and well-intense nose with aromas of ripe and stone fruits, along with smoky, toasted notes, grilled bread, nuts, butter, and noble woods.

On the palate, it is balanced, flavorful, and unctuous, broad, with perfect acidity and a long, persistent finish.
