Ukan is the personal venture of Koldo Eguren, a fifth-generation member of this renowned winemaking family of Rioja. The winery is supplied by some of the finest Tempranillo vineyards in Rioja Alavesa, and its red wine, Senderos de Ukan Fincas en Altura 2022, has been hailed as one of the great recent discoveries. Grown in carefully selected vineyards located in different villages in Rioja Alavesa, all at an altitude of over 500 metres, this wine is a real delight for the senses: elegant, smooth and bursting with fruit and freshness.

Elaborado a partir de una cuidada selección de viñedos de distintos pueblos de Rioja Alavesa, todos por encima de los 500 metros de altitud, este vino es un auténtico deleite para los sentidos: elegante, fluido y rebosante de fruta y frescura.
Senderos de Ukan Fincas en Altura 2022 comes from a selection of Tempranillo vineyards with an average age of 50 years located in different municipalities of Rioja Alavesa: Laguardia, Elciego, Lapuebla de Labarca and Elvillar. The 2022 vintage yielded small berries, great tannic structure and excellent phenolic ripeness.
The grapes, harvested by hand in 15 kg crates, were doubly sorted at the winery – first by bunch and then berry by berry – before being processed using traditional methods. Fermentation took place in concrete tanks to preserve the primary character of the fruit, followed by malolactic fermentation in 225-litre French oak barrels, where the wine was aged for eight months before bottling. The result is a wine with minimal intervention that’s very elegant and packed with fruit and freshness.
