Description of their own wines
After living abroad for several years, I came to understand the value we treasure in Rioja Alavesa with our terroir. A winemaking style can be replicated anywhere in the world, but the climate, the soils... these are unique. That is why our project from the very beginning seeks wines that speak of origin. On the one hand, we value the Tempranillo from Rioja as one of the most balanced and elegant wines in the world, which is why we always seek these two attributes in the wines we produce: elegance and balance. On the other hand, our area of Rioja Alavesa enjoys soil and climate characteristics that provide us with grapes of magnificent acidity, which we strive to transfer to the wine in the form of agility and enjoyment.
Professional career
As part of a winemaking family, Koldo Eguren has lived in the world of wine since birth. However, his professional career was far from the vineyard until the end of 2017, when he began developing Ukan Winery. He studied International Business in a program that allowed him to study in Spain, Germany, and South Korea. After completing his studies, he founded an audiovisual production company in Bilbao. Two years later, he moved to Los Angeles, where he continued specializing in the digital marketing and film production sector. After working for three years in California, he returned home and decided to pursue his dream of creating a new boutique winery in his hometown in Rioja Alavesa.
