Together with Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc is the most highly appreciated white grape in the world. Spain boasts one of the best habitats for this variety, the D.O. Rueda, where the Vinos Sanz winery has extensive experience in producing wine from it.  Sanz Sauvignon Blanc 2024 was grown on 35-year-old vines and has a very intense nose, with aromas reminiscent of fig leaves and boxwood, as well as notes of citrus and tropical fruit. On the palate, it's a pleasant, fresh and lush white wine, with plenty of body and tropical hints.

General Information

Sanz Sauvignon Blanc 2024 comes from a selection of the best Suavignon Blanc vines owned by Vinos Sanz in La Seca (Valladolid), with an average age of 35 years and cultivated at an altitude of 750 metres. It’s superb value for money and is following in the footsteps of its older sibling: Finca La Colina Sauvignon Blanc (winner of the most prestigious international awards).

After harvesting, cold pre-fermentative maceration was carried out at less than 7ºC and the grapes were pressed, selecting the highest quality must, which underwent a long settling process to clarify it and preserve the varietal aromatic compounds. Fermentation then took place at a low temperature below 13º C, resulting in great aromatic intensity.

Vinos Sanz's philosophy is based on bringing out the best in the vineyard and taking the utmost care over the winemaking process. Besides Verdejo, the leading variety in the D.O. Rueda, the winery also grows Sauvignon Blanc – the second most important in the area – in its vineyards, which span over 100 hectares, mostly located on the Finca La Colina estate. Vinos Sanz owns some of the oldest Sauvignon Blanc vineyards in Rueda and prides itself on its extensive experience in working with this grape variety.

The white wine Sanz Sauvignon Blanc 2024 (D.O. Rueda) expresses the wide range of aromas and flavours characteristic of this grape, which are so reminiscent of tropical fruits. It's ideal with all kinds of appetisers such as cold cuts or smoked fish platters. At mealtimes, it also goes well with baked fish such as sea bass in a salt crust or Japanese dishes like salmon sashimi.

Tasting notes

Straw-yellow colour with a steely rim, clean and bright. Very intense nose. It displays vegetal aromas such as fig leaf and boxwood together with citrus fruits and a tropical finish of passion fruit. Pleasant, balanced, fresh and lush on the palate, with plenty of body and intense tropical notes.

In addition to being the oldest winery in Rueda, Vinos Sanz is an essential name to understand the enormous development that this Castilian-Leonese denomination has experienced in recent decades. Founded in 1870 in La Seca (Valladolid), it was the first winery to unconditionally bet on verdejo, today considered one of the best white grape varieties in the world. Currently, the winery is managed by the sixth generation of the family and is in the midst of a commercial expansion process to conquer new markets.

Vinos Sanz bases its philosophy on preserving the maximum expression of the vineyard and meticulously caring for the winemaking process. In addition to verdejo, the undisputed queen of Rueda, the winery also cultivates sauvignon blanc – the second most important variety in the area – across its more than 100 hectares of vineyards, mostly located in Finca La Colina. This plot, with unbeatable conditions for grape growing, produces the raw material for two of the best white wines made in this country: Finca La Colina 100 x 100 Verdejo and Finca La Colina Sauvignon Blanc.
