Winemaking
At the winery, Sanz Clásico 2025 is produced through meticulous work on the must, which is carefully selected after pressing and undergoes a long and highly controlled racking process to achieve a clean and delicate base, ready to preserve its freshness and varietal expression of the Verdejo and the Viura. Afterwards, this must ferments in stainless steel tanks at low temperature, below 13ºC, a careful process that promotes a clear aromatic intensity and preserves its character.
Aging
12 months in American oak barrels.
Description
Sanz Clásico 2025 comes from vineyards with a median age of 30 years in La Seca, in the D.O. Rueda, where the altitude of 730 metres and the continental Mediterranean climate define the character of the viticultural area. The calcareous-loam soils of brown lands, rich in magnesium and calcium, over rocky deposits and poor in organic matter, promote a precise and fresh expression of the plot, while the blend of Verdejo and Viura provides the varietal balance that characterises this wine.
Age
Produced from vines with an average age of 30 years.
Climate
Highlights in La Seca (Valladolid), where the vineyard of Sanz Clásico 2025 benefits from a continental Mediterranean climate and an altitude of 730 metres, creating conditions that favour slow ripening and help preserve its freshness and aromatic expression.
Viticulture
What does a well-managed dry-farmed vineyard contribute when seeking freshness, balance, and varietal expression? In Sanz Clásico 2025, the answer lies in traditional viticulture, established in La Seca, on vineyards averaging around 30 years old that grow on calcareous-loam soils rich in magnesium and calcium, over stony, nutrient-poor deposits. The winery tends to these plots with a precise approach, aimed at preserving the quality of the must and the character of Verdejo and Viura, without resorting to aggressive practices that alter their natural character.
View
Sanz Clásico 2025 displays a straw yellow colour with greenish highlights. Clear and bright, it exhibits a luminous appearance that conveys freshness from the glass.
Nose
The nose opens with aromas of ripe, juicy, and clear tree fruit. Then subtle herbaceous notes emerge, with a fresh hay aftertaste. A classic profile. Clean. Very expressive.
Mouth
On the palate, it moves with a friendly and lively sensation and leaves a persistent impression where the Viura and Verdejo blend naturally, contributing to a clean and very fresh aftertaste, with a balanced profile and easy to enjoy.
A frank, fresh palate with a clear gastronomic vocation.
In addition to being the oldest winery in Rueda, Vinos Sanz is an essential name to understand the enormous development that this Castilian-Leonese denomination has experienced in recent decades. Founded in 1870 in La Seca (Valladolid), it was the first winery to unconditionally bet on verdejo, today considered one of the best white grape varieties in the world. Currently, the winery is managed by the sixth generation of the family and is in the midst of a commercial expansion process to conquer new markets.
Vinos Sanz bases its philosophy on preserving the maximum expression of the vineyard and meticulously caring for the winemaking process. In addition to verdejo, the undisputed queen of Rueda, the winery also cultivates sauvignon blanc – the second most important variety in the area – across its more than 100 hectares of vineyards, mostly located in Finca La Colina. This plot, with unbeatable conditions for grape growing, produces the raw material for two of the best white wines made in this country: Finca La Colina 100 x 100 Verdejo and Finca La Colina Sauvignon Blanc.
