San Valentín Blanco 2023 is the most romantic wine from Bodegas Torres, which, due to its name, has already become a classic gift to enjoy every Valentine's Day.
Made with garnacha blanca and parellada, two of the traditional white varieties of the D.O. Catalunya, this fantastic semi-dry white was designed by Miguel Torres Carbó to liven up his picnics and walks among the vineyards, dedicating its creation, precisely on February 14th, to his wife Margarita Riera.
The high-altitude location of the vineyards from which Bodegas Torres nourishes this coupage enhances its aromatic intensity and moderate alcohol content. These qualities make San Valentín Blanco 2023 the ideal choice to accompany seafood, fish in sauce, or all kinds of pastries.
Tasting notes
San Valentín Blanco displays a pale yellow color.
On the nose, it reveals pleasant floral aromas (retama silvestre) and fruity notes (banana, chirimoya).
Smooth and light on the palate. Sweet finish with hints of quince jam.
Creators' opinion
Due to the weather conditions of the year, the 2023 harvest will be remembered as one of the earliest. In general, the year was very dry, with temperatures above average. After a fairly dry winter with mild temperatures, spring was very gentle with little precipitation, leading to a very warm August with scarce precipitation in summer. These conditions led to a significant advancement of the harvest and a notable decrease in yield, especially in the Penedés and Garraf areas. In general, the good health of the grapes allowed us to produce fruity whites with medium acidity and good mouthfeel.
The winery
The Torres surname has been linked to winemaking in the Penedès region since the 17th century, although the official founding date of the winery is set in 1870. Generation after generation, this company, based in Vilafranca del Penedès (Barcelona), has remained in family hands, becoming today, quite possibly, the most well-known Spanish winery in the world, with a presence in over 150 countries.
