Rodolfo Bastida was key in the renewal of Bodegas Ramón Bilbao during the 1990s, focusing on achieving greater fruit presence and concentration in their creations. With this philosophy, he crafts Ramón Bilbao Crianza Mágnum 2021, a single-varietal Tempranillo that, vintage after vintage, maintains quality standards that have granted the winery great prestige and established it as one of the undeniable benchmarks of Rioja Alta.
Ramón Bilbao Crianza is made from a meticulous selection of plots throughout the Rioja region, hand-harvested at their optimal ripeness after constant monitoring throughout the cycle. The different plots were fermented separately at a controlled temperature of 25-26º C and, after the final blending, the wine underwent 14 months of aging in American oak barrels.
Founded in 1924 in Haro, Bodegas Ramón Bilbao is a winery with significant presence in the local market and recognized by international critics with a good collection of awards for its wines. Since 1999, the winery has belonged to the Restoy-Zamora family, one of Spain's most important beverage companies, which also owns wineries such as Mar de Frades and Cruz de Alba.
Ramón Bilbao Crianza Mágnum 2021 is a red wine from the D.O.Ca. Rioja that pairs perfectly with cured meats and mild cheeses. It also goes well with roast lamb and oily fish.

A la vista, Ramón Bilbao Crianza luce un vibrante y atractivo color rubí. Nariz honesta, marcada por un claro predominio de aromas a fruta negra. En segundo término, aparecen notas de regaliz y ecos lácteos junto a toques de especias como vainilla, canela y comino. Es un vino equilibrado en boca, con una acidez crujiente y buena concentración de fruta. Presenta taninos agradables y elegantes. Fluido, pero de marcada longitud, es un vino en armonía, equilibrado, en estado de evolución, con buena intensidad frutal.
The winery
Founded in 1924 by Ramón Bilbao Murga himself, since 1999 Bodegas Ramón Bilbao has been part of Grupo Zamora, which is owned by the Restoy Zamora family. From its extensive experience, its position as a pioneering company in the “art” of barrel aging stands out. In its most recent phase, its spectacular growth (from producing 600,000 bottles to 3,000,000 bottles today) and the modernization plan for its facilities and wine styles are noteworthy, largely due to the acquisition of productive vineyards and the planting of new vines in Rioja.
Located in Haro, the heart of Rioja wine, Ramón Bilbao is one of the wineries with the most tradition and prestige in the Rioja Alta. Its long history, supported by its excellent fieldwork and the application of modern winemaking, places it among the benchmark brands of Rioja vineyards. Its winemaker, Rodolfo Bastida, played an active role in the renewal carried out in the 1990s to give Rioja wines greater fruit presence and concentration. Ramón Bilbao owns 180 hectares of its own vineyards and oversees an additional 818 hectares from regional growers.
In 2010, Ramón Bilbao expanded its reach to the D.O. Rueda to produce interesting Verdejos. With the 2016 vintage, they inaugurated their own winery in this region, the homeland of Verdejo, where they already have 60 hectares of vineyards.
