Quinta do Pégo Late Bottle Vintage Port 2019 is the result of an extraordinary blend of five native varieties meticulously vinified and aged to offer a fresh, complex wine with pleasant aromatic intensity and elegance. Originating from Quinta do Pégo, an estate worked under soil and environmental sustainability certification, the touriga nacional, touriga franca, tinta roriz, sousão, and tinta cão grapes that produce it are carefully selected, transported to a traditional lagar, and turned into must after grape treading. The resulting must will be fermented and the subsequent wine fortified. After aging for 4-6 years in oak barrels, this generous wine will be ready for market release.
The beautiful landscapes of the Douro River and its surroundings are considered a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. This incomparable setting is home to the Quinta do Pégo Winery. The Portuguese firm boasts an extraordinary vineyard, where the grapes are of unsurpassed quality and form the basis for crafting the renowned reds of the area, the great Vintage Ports, and the Late Bottle Vintage.
This Late Bottled Vintage is a generous wine under the D.O.C. Porto that you can enjoy young and fruity or let it age for a few years to gain even more complexity. Quinta do Pégo LBV Port 2019 is ideal for enjoying on its own, as an aperitif, or accompanying nuts, cheeses, and desserts, especially chocolate.
The first historical document that mentions Quinta do Pégo dates back to 1548, although it is known that the origin of the estate is earlier. In the 19th century (1825), the estate was purchased in a forced sale by Francisco Da Silva Torres, the second husband of Doña Antonia. The history of the winery concludes in 2003 when it was acquired by the AMKA group.
The Quinta do Pégo winery is located in the Douro region, in the Cima Corgo subregion, very close to Vila do Pinhão. This entire area is a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to the beauty of the Douro River valley, an idyllic place where manual harvesting takes place at the beginning of September on the steep terraces overlooking the freshwater.
The renowned Portuguese winery in the Douro Valley boasts an internationally prestigious winemaker, Manuel Henrique Da Silva, who, along with his team, crafts elegant wines of the D.O.P. Douro, Port Vintage wines, and Late Bottled Vintage wines from the native varieties touriga nacional, tinto cão, tinta barroca, tinta roriz, sousão, and touriga franca.
In addition to the estate and the winery, Quinta do Pégo features a hotel and a restaurant, perfect for exploring the Douro region, its wines, and its gastronomy.
