Quinta das Carvalhas 1980 Colheita Porto is a highly complex and intense blend of the finest grapes from the harvest, sourced from old vineyards of native Portuguese varieties. Real Companhia Velha, the oldest winemaking company in Portugal, produces a harmonious and persistent port that perfectly balances its oxidative notes with excellent acidity.
Quinta das Carvalhas 1980 Colheita Porto is a deep amber-colored wine, a reflection of its aging. On the nose, it offers immense aromatic intensity with notes of bitter almonds, toasted walnuts, and raisins, followed by hints of old oak and caramel. On the palate, the wine's age brings great complexity with interesting oxidative notes, and the acidity provides a long and lasting finish.
Founded in 1756 by a royal charter issued by José I of Portugal, Real Companhia Velha is the oldest winemaking company in the Portuguese territory and a true emblem in the Douro and Porto appellations.
The company boasts a heritage of 540 hectares of vineyards, distributed across some of the finest estates, mostly located on the left bank of the Douro River. Quinta das Carvalhas is the crown jewel. From this 600-hectare property, 120 of which are occupied by old vines, some up to 100 years old, come the most renowned wines of the brand, sold in over 45 countries, ranging from their Ruby Reserva to the vintages, including the more classic range of 10 and 20-year-old Ports or Tawny.
