Primero 2025 is not just a wine – it’s a limited edition of a fresh red with character and personality that celebrates the beginning of the grape harvest.
Every year Primero, made by Bodegas Fariña, kicks off the harvest with an explosion of freshness, colour and personality. Primero 2025 is a red wine from Toro produced using the carbonic maceration method. It’s this Denominación de Origen’s first young wine and the only one with an artistic streak, as its label shows. Lovers of young wines will enjoy this new vintage with the same pioneering spirit as always.

Primero 2025 comes from a winery that's gone down in history in the D.O. Toro: Fariña. It wasn’t just a pioneer in applying modern winemaking techniques in the region, but has also managed to combine tradition, art and innovation in each of its wines. With more than 300 hectares of its own vineyards, this family-owned firm cultivates Tinta de Toro grapes with a sustainable philosophy and a focus on excellence. Fariña's commitment to the terroir and its dedication to innovation have made it a leading name, not only for the quality of its wines but also for its ability to reinvent itself without losing touch with its roots. Primero is the freshest and most spontaneous reflection of this philosophy: a wine that marks the beginning of each harvest and is adorned with a different work of art each year, the winner of the ‘Primero de Fariña’ National Painting Competition. This turns each bottle into a unique combination of art and wine in a comprehensive sensory experience. The label for this vintage reproduces ¿Quieres bailar? (Do you want to dance?) by artist Karla Lagos Gatica.
Produced using the carbonic maceration method, Primero 2025 is one of the first young wines to be released in Spain, just 45 days after the harvest. It’s as expressive as it is straightforward: intense aromas of red fruit, fresh flowers and subtle dairy hints that pave the way for a supple, balanced palate with a surprisingly long finish. This wine, designed from 100% Tinta de Toro grapes, was the first in the D.O. to be made using this method, and since 1995 it's been a yearly fixture for lovers of young, authentic wine.
Primero has won numerous awards and accolades year after year. The 2023 vintage, for instance, picked up a gold medal at Mundus Vini 2024 (Germany), the Baco de Oro at the 38th Baco awards and high scores from critics, such as 92 points from Decanter and 90 from the 2025 Peñín guide. It pairs perfectly with meat, cheese, salads and pasta, among other dishes.

The D.O. Toro would not be the same without the work carried out over the years by its most emblematic winery: Bodegas Fariña, a family-owned winery, pioneering, innovative, and a benchmark in the region. It is the only winery that has been present since the origins of the designation and the firm responsible for the great leap in quality achieved by its wines.
Following in the footsteps of the founder, Salvador Fariña, who began his work in a rudimentary winery dug into the ground in Casaseca de las Chanas, Manuel Fariña López turned this winery into the spearhead of the Tinta de Toro variety. He was a pioneer in Toro in applying winemaking techniques used in the world's most important wine regions, such as fermentation in stainless steel tanks, temperature control during fermentation, and selecting the most suitable barrels for aging wines. A series of innovations that laid the foundations of what many call “the great miracle of Toro”; changes that made it possible to move away from the bold and somewhat heavy wines of a past era to create powerful and elegant wines that have made the D.O. Toro a leading region.
Bodegas Fariña has over 300 hectares of its own vineyards, a true guarantee when producing high-quality wines in the area. Today, Manuel (Manu) Fariña Pérez, son of Manuel and grandson of Salvador, stands as the third generation of winemakers at the winery.
