Montegaredo Crianza reveals a classic and elegant profile. From Ribera del Duero, this high-altitude 100% Tempranillo blends ripe fruit, vanilla and a balanced palate, with 95 points from Guía Gourmet and Oro Cinve. Let its character seduce you and discover why it makes a difference.
Montegaredo Crianza 2023 is a red wine with character and a very well-measured elegance, born in the D.O. Ribera del Duero. Made with Tempranillo pure, it spends 12 months in French and American oak barrels of fine grain, an ageing period that gives it that serious air and, at the same time, so pleasant to drink.
It comes from vines situated on the slopes of Cuesta Manvirgo, at over 800 metres above sea level, on calcareous-sandy soils with gravel and a clay-rich subsoil. The harvest is carried out by hand, with bunch selection in the field and direct transfer to the winery, taking care of every detail so that the grapes arrive at their best moment.
Bodegas Montegaredo is a family-owned firm based in Boada de Roa. It works with a clear idea: to respect the vineyard and let the terroir speak. Its distinctive semi-buried pyramid is already a hallmark, and in wines like this you can notice that constant search for authenticity, balance and expression. It is no accident that it received 95 points in the Gourmet Guide and a Gold Medal at the CINVE International Wine & Spirits Competition.

Pairing
Montegaredo Crianza expresses the Ribera del Duero with elegance and depth. Born on the slopes of Cuesta Manvirgo and made with Tempranillo, it finds its best match in game stews such as venison stew, quails with beans, or partridge stewed; it also pairs very well with lamb cutlets, roast pork loin and cured cheeses, where its ripe fruit and vanilla notes come together naturally.
Montegaredo Crianza seeks a classic and precise expression of Tempranillo in Ribera del Duero. The winemaking starts with a cold pre-fermentative maceration of at least 48 hours, designed to preserve the fruity character and refine extraction. Thereafter, the must ferments with yeasts sourced from the vineyard and with temperature control between 25 and 30°C. The whole process is oriented toward respecting the raw material and producing a red with a balanced profile, ripe fruit, a spicy background and a very defined structure.
Aging
It rests for between 12 and 14 months in oak barrels, with 70% French oak and 30% American oak of fine grain, and during that time it undergoes regular refillings and rackings.
Vineyard
Description
Montegaredo Crianza proceeds from vineyards situated on the slopes of Cuesta Manvirgo, in Ribera del Duero, at over 800 metres above sea level. It grows on calcareous-sandy soils with gravel and a clay-rich base, a poor terroir that favours modest yields and a grape of notable character. It is made with Tempranillo, a varietal that expresses here a pronounced fruity ripeness and an elegant structure.
Viticulture
Montegaredo Crianza arises from traditional viticulture that is very respectful of nature. The Tempranillo vines, situated on the slopes of Cuesta Manvirgo and at altitude, are tended to express the purest expression of the terroir, with restrained yields and a hand harvest that includes bunch selection in the field and immediate transfer to the winery to preserve the quality of the grapes.

Mouth
Broad and fresh on the palate. The entry is smooth. Then a long, fleshy mid-palate, marked by ripe fruit. Its structure is well established and maintains a very elegant balance. The finish is balsamic, persistent and with a rounded and complex mouthfeel.
