Tasting notes
View
Clean and bright with high intensity and a purple-red colour with garnet rims.
Nose
It highlights aromas of red fruit that are lightly ripe and compote-like, with some hints of black fruit, followed by notes of coffee from the barrel, toffee, light spices and a hint of toast.
Mouth
A powerful and well-structured wine, it coats the mouth with a polished tannin and very good acidity. Aromas of ripe red fruit together with toasty and roasted notes that translate precisely to the palate, leading to a clean and persistent finish. Very long-lived.
The foundation of Martín Berdugo dates back to the early 90s, when the family that gives the winery its name decided to take advantage of an extraordinary stony terrain near Aranda de Duero to plant vineyards. In the year 2000, they built the winery and began marketing their own wines, after a decade of selling grapes to local winegrowers.
The estate spans a total of 104 hectares, 87 of which are vineyards of the tinta fina variety. The facilities, designed by architects Vicky Daroca and María Viñé, won the award for best European design in the construction category in 2005, granted by the prestigious German magazine Bauwet. In addition to producing red wine in Ribera del Duero, Martín Berdugo is responsible for a single-varietal verdejo of excellent quality under the D.O. Rueda.
