In 1990, Josefina Martín Berdugo, with the support of her husband Enrique Díez and their children Antonio, Bruno, and Pepa, decided to plant a vineyard on a gravelly plot near Aranda de Duero, a site of great sentimental value owned by the family. After nearly a decade of selling grapes to local winemakers, the Martín Berdugo family decided it was time to build a winery and market their own wine. Years later, they expanded the business by producing a single-varietal white wine made from verdejo in the D.O. Rueda.
Currently, Antonio Díez, son of Josefina Martín Berdugo and Enrique Díez, is the CEO and winemaker of Bodega y Viñedos Martín Berdugo.
