Marqués de Riscal Sauvignon Blanc 2025 is a white wine made entirely from this French variety, introduced in Rueda in 1974 by Herederos del Marqués de Riscal. It will captivate you with its aromatic intensity, minerality, good balance, and acidity.
Due to the quality of the grapes it is made from and its meticulous production process, Marqués de Riscal Sauvignon Blanc 2025 ranks among the greatest white wines of the region, featuring the French variety originally from the Loire.
The century-old Rioja winery Herederos del Marqués de Riscal arrived in Rueda in 1972 to add high-quality white wines to its impressive collection of reds, showcasing all the character of this Castilian designation of origin. In addition to demonstrating its masterful expertise with verdejo, the region's queen grape, the winery, true to its pioneering spirit, introduced sauvignon blanc in 1974. Today, it boasts 70 hectares of vineyards of this variety, with an average age of over 25 years, whose fruits stand out for their great aromatic intensity, good acidic balance, and minerality. Furthermore, since the 2018 harvest, the vines have been certified organic.
The vinification process followed for the single-varietal Marqués de Riscal Sauvignon Blanc is identical to that of its verdejo. After cold maceration, extraction, and must clarification, a slow fermentation was carried out at a controlled temperature. Once completed, the resulting wine remained in contact with its fine lees to enhance its mouthfeel and improve its aging potential. Marqués de Riscal Sauvignon Blanc 2025 is a D.O. Rueda wine, fantastic as an aperitif and perfect to pair with all kinds of seafood and marinara-style pasta dishes.

Great aromatic sensation and freshness on the palate. Clean and persistent finish.
Founded in 1858 in Elciego (Rioja Alavesa), Herederos del Marqués de Riscal is the oldest winery in Rioja alongside Marqués de Murrieta. In 1862, it marketed its first bottled wines, quickly garnering awards and recognition. Since then, it has maintained a prestigious trajectory, becoming one of the Spanish wineries with the greatest international projection (its wines are present in more than 100 countries). In 1972, it expanded its scope to the D.O. Rueda, producing its first white wines there. The year 2006 marked another milestone for Marqués de Riscal with the inauguration of the City of Wine in Elciego: a spectacular complex surrounding the old family winery, designed by architect Frank O. Gehry, featuring a hotel, fine dining restaurants, and a Vinotherapy center.
The World’s Best Vineyards 2020 list ranked Marqués de Riscal as the sixth-best wine tourism destination in the world.
In the D.O.Ca. Rioja, Herederos del Marqués de Riscal owns 540 hectares of its own vineyards and manages another 900 hectares from suppliers; all within the Rioja Alavesa subzone, spread across Elciego and neighboring villages such as Leza, Laguardia, or Villabuena, and cultivated with the grape varieties tempranillo, graciano, mazuelo, and cabernet sauvignon. On the other hand, in the D.O. Rueda, it owns 330 hectares of vineyards planted with verdejo and sauvignon blanc grapes, and oversees 500 hectares of managed vineyards. In 2018, 100% of the estate's vineyards were certified for organic farming. Marqués de Riscal also produces wines under the Vinos de la Tierra de Castilla y León designation.
