General Information

A sparkling wine of unique character and remarkable aging potential. Manuel Raventós Enoteca Personal 1999 is one of the most cherished and meticulously crafted wines in the collection of Manuel Raventós Negra, son of the founder of the renowned winery in Sant Sadurní d’Anoia. This personal project of unique and long-lasting creations began in 1985. After decades of observation and expertise, the successor of Josep María Raventós i Blanc decided to launch a series of old vintage sparkling wines, produced in limited quantities and of particularly exceptional quality.
br>Like the other wines in this exclusive collection, Manuel Raventós Enoteca Personal 1999 is a coupage of the finest wines, made from xarel.lo, macabeo, parellada, and chardonnay grapes, harvested in that year from the estate that Raventós i Blanc has owned in the heart of Penedès since 1497. Manuel Raventós Negra personally tasted and selected them. Its production, following the traditional method, included low-pressure fruit pressing, a first fermentation in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures for each variety separately, and the final blending and second fermentation in the bottle. The wine aged for 14 years on its lees and was manually riddled on racks. From this vintage, which the Club brings to you, only 405 bottles exist.

The winery

Josep María Raventos i Blanc has left an indelible mark on the world of Catalan wine. Not only was he one of the key figures behind the unstoppable rise of Codorníu – he left the company in 1982 – he was also the mayor of Sant Sadurní d'Anoia and president of the CRDO Cava. In March 1986, barely a week after founding the winery that bears his name, a heart attack ended the life of Josep María during a trip to New Zealand.

The estate where the winery is located spans 90 hectares and has belonged to the family for more than five centuries. The facilities, designed by architects Jaume Bach and Gabriel Mora, won the FAD architecture award in 1989. In less than 30 years, Raventós i Blanc has become one of the most influential producers of cava and still wines (with D.O. Penedès) on the national scene.
