Mantel Blanco Verdejo 2022 is produced from Verdejo vines that the winery owns in Pago de La Serna, at an altitude of 770 meters, on a terrace formed during the Tertiary period by the Duero River. Sustainable agriculture is practised in these vineyards. Harvesting was at night to preserve the freshness of the fruit. Once in the winery, the winemaking process combines traditional techniques with the use of state-of-the-art machinery.
Álvarez y Díez was founded in Nava del Rey (Valladolid) in 1941 for the production and aging of white wines with a long tradition, very typical of the area in those years. In 1977, Benito's family re-established the winery, creating the basis of what is its philosophy today. To do this, they planted 100 hectares of Verdejo and built a winery equipped with modern production techniques.
Shortly after, in 1980, Álvarez y Díez was one of the wineries that took part in founding the D.O. Rueda. Today it produces wines with character and personality that are well-known within Spain and beyond; while in the field the company is committed to sustainable viticulture.
Mantel Blanco Verdejo 2022 (D.O. Rueda) is the perfect match for a Valencian paella or Villaroy chicken breasts.
Intense straw yellow in colour with greenish reflections. Very bright. Clean aroma, with fruit intensity. Mineral background with citrus notes. Fresh and expressive, fruity and balanced, with good volume and acidity. Long and elegant.
Álvarez y Díez was founded in Nava del Rey in 1941 for the production and aging of solera white wines, very characteristic of the region in those years. In 1977, the Benito family reestablished the winery, laying the foundations of what is today its philosophy. To achieve this, they planted 100 hectares of verdejo and built a winery equipped with the most modern winemaking techniques. With these foundations, Álvarez y Díez became one of the wineries involved in the creation of the Rueda Designation of Origin, producing young, fresh, and fruity wines with an international focus.
Today, Álvarez y Díez produces high-quality, modern wines based on the verdejo variety; wines with character and personality that are known both within and outside Spain for their elegance, rich fruitiness, and balanced acidity. The winery owns 100 hectares of its own vineyards and is committed to sustainable agriculture.
