Madremía 2023 is a modern-style aged red wine that will appeal to both new wine enthusiasts and more traditional Toro wine drinkers. The name Madremía hints at what we might exclaim if we encounter the animal featured on its original label: a wild boar, no less.
The winery behind this gem is Bodegas y Viñedos Divina Proporción, located in the municipal area of Toro. Founded in 2009 as a family project led by Máximo San José de la Rosa, it launched its first wine in 2011. Today, it boasts 25 hectares of its own vineyards surrounding the winery in the style of classic Bordeaux châteaux. Among its vines, some are over 100 years old, a true viticultural treasure.
The soul of Madremía 2023 comes from tinta de Toro vineyards over 40 years old, planted on sandy soils. This type of terrain, combined with carefully controlled pre-fermentation maceration, results in a wine with a pronounced fruity character. The alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, while the malolactic fermentation occurs in barrels, where the wine also ages for 9 months. This meticulously managed aging process respects and enhances the wine's fruity profile without masking it.
Thanks to its characteristics, Madremía 2023 pairs perfectly with barbecue pork ribs, beans with chorizo, and blood sausage.
Located in the region of Toro, Bodegas y Viñedos Divina Proporción was founded in 2009 as a small, family-owned company led by Máximo San José de la Rosa.
