The name Madremía 2022 – meaning ‘Goodness me!’ – expresses what we might say if the animal depicted on its original label were to cross our path: a wild boar! A modern design for a wine that appeals to contemporary tastes: it’s got the potency of Toro wines yet is smooth. It’s made from grapes from old vines and a 9-month stint in barrels has made it longer lasting. This red has dominant fruity notes, with subtle background spicy and floral hints.

Madremía 2022 is a modern-style, oak-aged red wine that will satisfy both new consumers and more classical drinkers of Toro wines. It comes from 40-year-old Tinta de Toro vines that grow in cool, sandy soils. The type of soil and pre-fermentative fermentation helped create a fruit-forward wine.
Alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks and malolactic fermentation in barrels, followed by 9 months in barrels. This very careful ageing process doesn't mask the wine's fruity character.
Based in the municipality of Toro, Bodegas y Viñedos Divina Proporción was founded in 2009 as a small, family-run company, headed by Máximo San José de la Rosa. Two years later, in 2011, it launched its first wine. It's a functional winery with the capacity to process half a million kilogrammes of grapes. The 25 hectares of vineyards it owns surround the facilities in the style of the châteaux of Bordeaux. The vines belong to the Tinta de Toro variety, and some are more than a century old.
