Lalama 2022 is a red wine with an Atlantic character, full of complexity and balance, designed for aging but highly enjoyable for those who don't want to wait. A Ribeira Sacra crafted from grapes grown in vineyards aged between 20 and 100 years, with great soil diversity and located at altitudes of up to 700 meters, it reveals itself as perfumed, elegant, and fruity. Aged in French oak barrels and stabilized solely by the natural cold of Galician winters.

General Information

The native varieties mencía, brancellao, mouratón, and sousón come together in Lalama 2022, an exceptional coupage at the pinnacle of quality among Galician red wines. Old vines situated in slate soils at 700 meters of altitude, combined with an expressive and fresh vintage, resulted in an Atlantic-style red wine that presents fruity notes, an appealing mineral background, and delicate balsamic and spicy hints.

Bodegas Dominio do Bibei is a project established in the year 2000, located on a mountain in Ribeira Sacra, in the village of Langullo (Orense). At Dominio do Bibei, there are both young and centenary vines, in an organized disorder of recovered native varieties, at altitudes ranging from 200 to 700 meters. This allows them to craft small productions of elegant Galician labels.

The fruits that give rise to the magnificent red wine from the Bibei Valley, Lalama , are harvested manually in 10 kg boxes. Once the grapes are chilled for 24 hours, a manual selection is carried out, cluster by cluster, in the winery. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in 25, 35, and 45-hectoliter wooden conical tanks with manual punch-downs. After completing all these processes, the wine undergoes aging for 15 months in French oak barrels and remains an additional 3 months in 45-hectoliter conical oak tanks. The rounding time in the bottle perfected a great red wine under the D.O. Ribeira Sacra, praised by both the public and specialized critics, vintage after vintage.

Dominio do Bibei Lalama 2022 pairs perfectly with legumes, grilled red meats, roasted red meats, and small game.

Tasting notes

Lalama has a clean and bright cherry red color.

On the nose, with medium-high intensity, fresh red fruits stand out. Spicy, light, and floral aromas. Balsamic and toasted notes.

On the palate, it is flavorful, with ripe fruit and wild herbs. Elegant tannins and an acidity marked by the fruit.
