Heaphy Sauvignon Blanc 2023 is a white wine with strong typicity, highly representative of this variety, featuring notes of tropical fruit and freshly cut grass, with a magnificent underlying acidity that provides great freshness. It is also highly representative of New Zealand's winemaking: a modern, varietal, young, and high-quality wine.

Heaphy Sauvignon Blanc 2023 is a single-varietal wine made from vineyards located in Tasman, Upper Moutere, and Waimea Plains, in the Nelson region (New Zealand). The fruit was cold-pressed, and after fermentation, the wine was left to rest on fine lees for 8 months before a light filtration and bottling.

In the 70s, New Zealand's wine industry began to gain recognition, especially thanks to white wines made from sauvignon blanc and their vibrant freshness. These first sauvignon blancs that caught international attention came from Marlborough, the country's most important wine-growing area, located in the northeast of the South Island. The rise of this white variety, originally from France, allowed other grape varieties and regions, such as the neighboring Nelson region, to stand out.

Today, New Zealand is a prestigious country in the wine sector. It does not have a large production in quantitative terms but excels in quality. Additionally, the price of its wines tends to be high. Its hallmark: varietal wines created with grapes of French origin.

Due to New Zealand's insular nature, its climate benefits from a magnificent maritime influence, which positively impacts the quality of its wines. A land of diversity and contrasts, it has championed its 'cool climate wines.' Furthermore, the significant development of technology has also contributed to the quality of its wines.

Sauvignon blanc has perfectly adapted to the climatic and soil conditions offered by New Zealand's South Island. In the northwest lies Nelson, a smaller and lesser-known region compared to Marlborough, with a very similar climate but cooler and less rainy, and soils of gravel and clay—excellent conditions for this variety.

Heaphy Vineyards, the winery behind this white wine, is the new project of Boutinot, a group present in several countries. It is a 'boutique' winery located in the hills of Upper Moutere (Nelson Tasman), working with just 9.8 hectares of hillside vineyards.

Heaphy Sauvignon Blanc 2023 pairs perfectly with baked fish like salt-crusted sea bream. Also ideal with Japanese cuisine such as salmon sashimi or nigiri. Vegan wine with a screw cap.

Tasting notes

In the glass, it displays a beautiful lemon-yellow color with greenish highlights, very bright.

The nose is complex, intense, and very varietal, revealing pleasant aromas of white fruits (pear, apple) along with notes of citrus peel and hints of freshly cut grass. In the background, floral echoes appear, and finally, mineral undertones.

On the palate, it is fresh, flavorful, well-balanced, with a magnificent, well-integrated acidity that adds liveliness. It finishes with a long and pleasant aftertaste, leaving abundant citrus notes as announced on the nose.
