Elegance, depth, and versatility are the hallmarks of Harveys Amontillado Seco, a fortified wine from the premium range of Bodegas Fundador. Made with the native palomino fino grapes from the historic Pago de Macharnudo. Biological and oxidative aging in American oak barrels, with a solera established in 1928.

Harveys Amontillado Seco has been crafted from Palomino Fino grapes from the Pago de Macharnudo, one of the most prestigious vineyards in the Marco de Jerez, grown on albariza soils rich in calcium carbonate, which provide minerality and freshness. This wine undergoes a dual aging process: first biological aging under a layer of flor, and later oxidative aging in 500-liter American oak casks, following the criaderas and soleras system. The solera of this amontillado was established in 1928, and the wine has an average age of 12 to 15 years.

Bodegas Fundador, founded in 1730 in Jerez de la Frontera, is the oldest winery in the Marco de Jerez. With a legacy linked to the Domecq family and the creation of the first Spanish brandy, Fundador, the winery combines tradition and modernity. Today, it is part of the Emperador Group, a global leader in brandy.

Harveys Amontillado Seco is perfect for pairing with nuts, consommés, fish stews, shrimp curry rice, Iberian cured meats, aged cheeses, game meats, and spiced dishes. It is also ideal as an aperitif or in cocktails.

The winery

Bodegas Fundador

Bodegas Fundador, founded in 1730 by Patrick Murphy Woodlock, is the oldest winery in the Marco de Jerez and one of the most emblematic in Spain. Over nearly three centuries, it has passed through various owners, including the Domecq family, and is currently part of the Emperador Group, led by Andrew Lim Tan.

The winery has been a pioneer in the production of brandy in Spain, notably launching Fundador in 1874 as the first Spanish brandy. Its facilities include historic bodegas such as El Molino, La Luz and La Mezquita, as well as a distillery in Tomelloso.

The production process follows the traditional criaderas and solera system, and oak casks previously used for Sherry wines are used for ageing. The grape varieties include Palomino Fino, Pedro Ximénez and Moscatel, grown in estate vineyards such as the Macharnudo pago.

The warm, sunny climate of Jerez, together with albariza soils, provides ideal conditions for producing high-quality wines and brandies.
