The beginnings of Bodegas Familiares Matarromera date back to 1988, when Carlos Moro and Isabel Moro, founders of the business group, following the winemaking and viticulture tradition of their ancestors, decided to renew the vineyard and plan the construction of a new winery, which with modern technology, would maintain the traditional production method, and incorporate all the quality elements in materials and process control that the current world offers. With these ideas realized, Matarromera was born.
Since then, the group's commitment to innovation has been present at all times, culminating in Granza Vinos Ecológicos, the most natural line of the Castilian-Leonese group, composed of several gluten-free wines and ideal for vegans to consume.
Now we bring you, possibly, its best representative, Granza Tinta de Toro Crianza 2018. A wine made with the Tinta de Toro variety in the heart of the D.O. Toro. A wine you should not miss, with organic certification, born from one of the most interesting plots managed by Carlos Moro, the Finca La Calera.
It sparkles with a deep cardinal color, with a profound purplish hue; very covered in layer, clean and bright to the sight.
Intense and lively in the olfactory phase, dominated by fresh red and black fruit aromas in harmony with clean and clear tertiary touches from the wine aging.
On the palate, it shows good nerve, with a lively structure of sweet tannins. Measured acidity that provides freshness.
Following the winemaking tradition of his Castilian ancestors, Carlos Moro founded the Matarromera winery in Valbuena de Duero (Valladolid) in 1988 with a clear objective: to create quality wines using the most advanced technology while respecting traditional winemaking methods.
The main challenge undertaken by Carlos Moro was his commitment to new barrels for aging his wines, an initiative that was novel at the time in Ribera del Duero. Another key to Matarromera's success lies in its excellent vineyards, located in a legendary area of the D.O. Ribera del Duero: Valbuena de Duero.
In recent years, the Granza label has been chosen by Bodegas Familiares Matarromera to honor traditional farming practices. It refers to the residues (grain, long straw, husks, etc.) left from wheat and other seeds like barley when winnowed and sifted. This label represents the group's most natural wines, all of which are gluten-free and ideal for vegan consumers.
