A white from the deep Penedès, full of subtlety and freshness
Gran Caus Blanco 2023 is made from xarel·lo, chardonnay, and chenin blanc grown on terraces at 350 meters altitude, on the Garraf coastline (D.O. Penedès). Creamy, with good acidity and a pleasant saline touch, it is a surprising wine that, without aging in barrels, exudes delicacy and depth thanks to its extended bottle aging.
The Gran Caus range clearly reflects the philosophy and style of the Can Ràfols Dels Caus winery. These are noble, elegant, authentic, and distinctive wines, such as Gran Caus Blanco 2023, a wine made from old xare·lo vines, over 65 years old, and vineyards of around 25 years of chardonnay and chenin blanc at more than 350 meters above sea level.
The Can Ràfols Dels Caus winery was founded in 1979 when Carlos Esteva arrived at his grandfather's estate. Esteva revitalized the vineyard operations by introducing new varieties and cultivation methods with the aim of achieving quality and giving the wines a unique character. Thanks to this and the recent renovation, the winery is now one of the most unique in the old continent.
The grapes that make up the coupage of Gran Caus Blanco, under the D.O. Penedés, come from organically farmed vineyards and are harvested manually. At the winery, after a gentle crushing and pressing of the fruits without destemming, the spontaneous fermentation of the varieties begins separately at a controlled temperature, lasting 39 days, in stainless steel tanks and cement vats. The bottle aging, extended for 1 year, refined and balanced this Gran Caus Blanco 2023, a unique, subtle, and profound wine that is ideal to pair with seafood, all kinds of fish, rice-based dishes like paella, desserts, and various fruits.

Creators' opinion
Gran Caus Blanco displays a golden yellow color with greenish reflections. On the nose, notes of ripe lemon, peach, and white flowers stand out. Subtle on the palate, with a creamy texture, firm acidity, and a pleasant saline mineral touch. Luscious finish with refreshing citrus notes.
The Can Ràfols Dels Caus winery was founded in 1979 with the arrival of Carlos Esteva to his grandfather's estate of the same name. Esteva's arrival at the estate marked a revolution, as he regenerated the exploitation of its vineyards by introducing new varieties and cultivation methods aimed at achieving quality, giving the wines a unique character and the winery its own identity.
After several decades in the wine sector, Carlos Esteva continues to stand out for his extensive knowledge of the wine world. He has been nominated by the renowned Académie Internationale du vin. Additionally, he has created countless references at Can Ràfols Dels Caus and is involved in other projects such as Mas Oller in Empordà and Can Camps.
In a unique and singular environment, the wines of Can Ràfols Dels Caus are born in soils with a significant limestone mass located at the southernmost end of the Litoral mountain range, bordered by the Penedès plains and the Mediterranean Sea.
25 years after Carlos Esteva took the reins of Can Ràfols Dels Caus, he decided to build a new winery with the aim of improving operations, expanding qualitative potential, and continuing research.
Carlos Esteva seeks to produce great wines that express the nuances of their terroir. For him, exceptional wines have that something that goes beyond what we are capable of perceiving through the eyes, nose, and palate.
