General Information

The Penedès region is a true haven for the cultivation of native grape varieties and the adaptation of others of foreign origin. A practice that Bodegas Gramona has been mastering for over 130 years. In estates like Mas Escorpí, a vineyard situated at 400 meters above sea level, they cultivate 23-year-old chardonnay and pinot noir vines, which produce some of their finest sparkling wines, such as this Gramona Argent Brut brought to you by the Club.

After a meticulous manual selection of the best chardonnay grapes and a long aging process on the lees for over 48 months—a hallmark of this century-old winery—Gramona Argent Brut reveals itself as a subtle, elegant, fresh, and aromatically complex sparkling wine. A wine that pairs perfectly with all kinds of seafood, especially oysters, as well as starters like cheeses, cured meats, or foie.

Tasting notes

To the eye, it displays a pale yellow color with greenish reflections.

On the nose, it is subtle and elegant. Fruity aromas of golden apple, nectarine, and pineapple stand out, along with fresh citrus notes like lime peel. Following these, hints of bakery (bread crumb, butter) and white flowers such as fennel appear. Fine toasted tones of almond round it off.

Fresh on entry, it presents good volume on the palate, creaminess, and fine bubbles. A dry finish with good acidity and a lingering aftertaste of fruit and nuts.

The Gramona family represents five generations of winemakers. Since the mid-19th century, they have been working their lands in Sant Sadurní d’Anoia (Barcelona), and today they produce sparkling wines under the prestigious Corpinnat quality label, as well as still wines under the umbrella of the D.O. Penedès. Few wineries have made such significant contributions in recent years to elevate Spanish sparkling wines to the level of the great champagnes.

The sparkling wines of Gramona, crafted by Jaume Gramona, one of the foremost experts on bubbles in our country, achieve remarkable levels of elegance and are characterized by their extended aging periods. These sparkling wines, which garner prestigious international accolades, are made following artisanal processes: natural cork stoppers during aging, riddling racks for clarification, and manual disgorgement.

The Gramona family operates under a biodynamic philosophy across approximately 303 hectares. Of these, 72 hectares are owned by the family, while the rest come from Aliances per la Terra, a viticulturist association founded in 2015 and led by Gramona, which adheres to environmentally respectful practices. In 2014, Gramona obtained the Demeter certification, which guarantees biodynamic farming and winemaking for each wine. A few years later, in 2018, it became the first winery on the Peninsula to receive the BIODYVIN biodynamic certification. The Biodyvin label is a highly demanding certification, specific to the wine sector worldwide, and certifies biodynamic practices in both viticulture and winemaking (winery).
