Garnacha has gone from being discredited to becoming the trendy grape of Spanish wine. For a decade, garnacha wines produced in Aragonese denominations like Campo de Borja, Calatayud, and Cariñena have been winning over consumers in the U.S. and Great Britain. The markets in these countries warmly welcome these wines with an excellent quality-price ratio and a great harmony between fruit and oak. In this line is Godina 2021, produced by Bodegas Morca, owned by the prestigious Viñas Familia Gil group.
Founded in 2014 in the town of Borja (Zaragoza), Bodegas Morca owns 30 hectares of garnacha vineyards, some of which are very old vines. Morca's first harvest was in 2014, with only 7500 bottles released. A small-scale winery that currently markets several brands under the D.O. Campo de Borja, among which Tourán (the most exclusive), Morca (the most emblematic), and Godina (the most affordable) stand out.
When it comes to pairing, at Vinoselección we recommend enjoying Godina 2021 with dishes like vegetable rice or pork ribs with barbecue sauce.
Godina 2021 presents itself with a dark cherry color, very intense.
On the nose, it has a fine and very expressive aroma, with prominent red fruit scents accompanied by floral notes (violet), balsamic hints, and aromatic herbs, leading to a spicy background.
On the palate, it is balanced, flavorful, sweet, and enveloping, with good acidity and a creamy passage. Elegant, complex, long, and deep.
Godina is a wine that offers finesse and elegance, with moderately intense aromas of spices, licorice, plums, and light floral and toasted notes. Its mature tannins provide a silky texture on the palate, of exceptional purity, well-balanced, and with a long finish.
