Godelia Godello Edición Especial 2025 is a white from the D.O. Bierzo crafted for leisurely enjoyment, at a table where fish, shellfish or roasted vegetables sit naturally. It is based on Godello, with a production that includes five months of ageing on fine lees, something quite uncommon in the area and very useful for adding body and a smoother rounded feel. You can notice it in the mouthfeel. Its palate entry seeks precisely that combination of freshness, silky texture and a touch of complexity that makes it very memorable.
The grapes come from vineyards aged between 30 and 60 years, planted at between 500 and 700 metres above sea level on soils of quartzite and slate. A serious origin, one of those that marks character from the field. In addition, in some references there is mention of Doña Blanca, an indigenous variety that adds freshness and floral nuances.
Godelia, founded in 2009 and owned by the García Rodríguez family, is in Pieros, beside the Camino de Santiago. Its winery, integrated into the Bierzo landscape, has become one of the more interesting addresses in the area, supported by old vines, careful work and a clear vocation to give voice to the Bierzo.

Description
Godelia Godello Edición Especial 2025 stands out for its ageing on the lees, which imparts a silky texture and greater aromatic complexity. It comes from vineyards aged between 30 and 60 years, spread across different plots of the D.O. Bierzo, grown on soils of quartzites and slates at altitudes between 500 and 700 metres, an environment that promotes a pronounced mineral character and a fresh, elegant expression. In its production, the main variety is Godello, complemented by Doña Blanca, an indigenous variety that adds freshness and floral notes.
Age
Old vineyard: produced from Godello vines aged between 30 and 60 years.
Climate
Altitude marks the climatic character of this vineyard. The grapes come from plots in the D.O. Bierzo situated at altitudes between 500 and 700 metres, with vines aged 30 to 60 years on quartzites and slates. The combination of different orientations and that high-altitude environment promotes a slow ripening and preserves the freshness of the Godello.
Viticulture
Godelia Godello Edición Especial 2025 proceeds from old vineyards of between 30 and 60 years, distributed across several plots in the D.O. Bierzo, where the grapes are grown on soils of quartzites and slates at altitudes between 500 and 700 metres.
The viticulture of Godelia relies on traditional vineyard work, with very low yields that favour greater concentration and expressiveness, and on the care of a diverse vineyard heritage in which there are also very old vines of other varieties such as Mencía. Godello provides here the main base of the wine, while Doña Blanca adds freshness and floral nuances.

Bodegas Godelia (2009) has quickly established itself as one of the new benchmarks for wines from Bierzo. Owned by the García Rodríguez family, descendants of Galician farmers, the winery is located in one of the best areas of the D.O. Bierzo, in the village of Pieros in the municipality of Cacabelos, along the Camino de Santiago. It is built in the style of the typical large houses of Bierzo, perfectly integrated into the surroundings, and equipped with the latest winemaking technology and a barrel park with vats of different capacities.
Godelia is supported by high-quality old vineyards: it draws from more than 40 hectares of vines spread across various plots, with different altitudes and orientations, on slate soils that impart a distinctive minerality to its wines. It has some mencía vines that are over eighty years old and produce low yields. It also cultivates the white godello grape. Godelia is also one of the main wine tourism destinations in Bierzo.
