In the highlands of Soria and Burgos, Fuentenbro 2022 is born from century-old vines and a carefully selected blend of Tempranillo and Albillo Mayor, capturing the character of a classic Ribera de Duero, fresh and elegant. Its quality is already reflected in 91 Parker points and several international gold medals. Let yourself be carried away by its character.

Fuentenbro 2022 is the elevated expression of Ribera del Duero: a project that looks to the old vines of Soria and Burgos with a very clear idea, to recover the zone’s classic essence without losing freshness or current drive.

It arises from centenary vines, some pre-phylloxera, planted at over 900 metres above sea level in soils with a superficial layer over calcareous rock. There, between climate contrasts and harvests with very low yields, the grape finds a special character. In this landscape, the varieties Tinto Fino and Albillo Mayor are worked, forming the base of wines that seek balance, precision and a strong sense of place.

Behind it lies Bodega Fuentenbro, Señorío de Nava’s project, the fruit of a long and patient search for singular plots. After three years of work, the house has found surviving vineyards that speak of resilience, tradition and craft. The result is a contained but very well conceived range, with which the winery demonstrates that the classic Ribera del Duero can continue to move and excite in a simple and very contemporary way.

Description

Fuentenbro 2022 is born from very old vines, some century-old, located in sites in Soria and Burgos at over 900 metres above sea level. They are pre-phylloxera vines, grown in shallow soils with a calcareous rock substrate, where the roots have had to descend deeper to find balance. The environment is harsh and demanding, with an extreme climate of contrasts that dictates the pace of ripening and strengthens the grape’s character. The chosen varieties are Tinto Fino and Albillo Mayor, selected for their great richness of flavour and their adaptation to these high Ribera lands.

Age

Fuentenbro 2022 is made from century-old vines. It comes from Tinto Fino and Albillo Mayor from century-old vines.

Climate

Take advantage of the altitude of over 900 metres in Soria and Burgos, where the extreme climate contrasts set the pace for the vineyard and help the old vines adapt and thrive in challenging conditions.

Viticulture

For the production of Fuentenbro 2022, the winery opts for singular plots of old vines and pre-phylloxera stocks, some around 100 years old, located at over 900 metres above sea level in Soria and Burgos. Viticulture relies on an exhaustive search and selection process of these vineyards with very low yields, adapted to superficial soils with a calcareous rock bed and to a climate of extreme contrasts. The result is a traditional-style production, closely tied to the character of the terroir, with Tinto Fino and Albillo Mayor as the leading varieties.

Tasting notes

Nose

With a clean, refined profile, balsamic aromas predominate, combined with sweet spices and wild herbs, complemented by notes of dark fruit and wild berries, such as gooseberry and strawberry with a tangy touch.

Mouth

Surprisingly fresh, youthful and fruity, with the oak well integrated and tannins very fine and silky.
