Enrique Mendoza Monastrell-Merlot 2022 is a magnificent coupage in which the fresh versatility of the queen grape of the Spanish Levante finds the perfect complement in the subtle elegance of one of the most used varieties in Bordeaux reds.
Bodegas Enrique Mendoza is one of the most established firms in the D.O. Vinos Alicante and a pioneer in the use of native varieties with other noble foreign grapes in their wines, as is the case with this Enrique Mendoza Monastrell-Merlot 2022. The excellent conditions of the Cabezo de la Virgen de Villena area, its place of origin, make it the perfect "testing ground" and the factory of reds with a marked Mediterranean personality. 12 months of aging in French oak barrels from Allier and American oak from Oregon finished perfecting it. Lively, fresh, cheerful, and easy to drink.
Enrique Mendoza Monastrell-Merlot presents a medium-high layer and ruby red color, with garnet highlights.
On the nose, it is dominated by aromas of ripe fruit (red berries, strawberry, wild strawberry), smoke, charcoal, and cigar box (notes typical of the barrel), underbrush (rosemary, thyme, bay leaf, pine) and balsamic notes.
Round and serious entry on the palate. Fine and elegant tannins.
