Emina Prestigio Reserva 2022 is an outstanding interpretation of a warm, ripe vintage in Ribera del Duero. It comes predominantly from the oldest vineyards the winery cultivates in Valbuena de Duero, particularly from the historic Valdebaniego plot, a site where Tempranillo achieves a natural balance that is hard to match. This Reserva, exclusive to Vinoselección, shows a friendly, approachable and rounded style, with polished tannins and a depth that can be enjoyed from the very first moment.
Emina Ribera is a project conceived as a space for research, sustainability and viticultural precision. The winery was a pioneer in measuring its carbon footprint and integrating renewable energy, becoming a benchmark for sustainability in Ribera del Duero. Its vineyards are monitored using smart systems and managed under integrated farming practices, reducing treatments and maximising respect for the surrounding biodiversity.
Emina Prestigio Reserva 2022 is made entirely from Tempranillo and has been refined for 15 months in Bordeaux-style barrels of American and French oak. It is a rounded Reserva, generous in nuance and exceptional in terms of value for money. Perfect for those seeking a serious yet easy-to-enjoy red wine, it pairs particularly well with feathered game dishes – such as Toledo-style partridge – braised shanks, red meats or slow-cooked stews. An exclusive wine that reflects the most approachable, modern and seductive side of Ribera del Duero.
APPEARANCE: Attractive deep cherry red (picota) colour with a garnet rim; deep in intensity, lively and bright.
NOSE: Concentrated, complex and fragrant. The initial notes reveal ripe black fruit – blackberries, sloes and cassis. This is followed by hints of cocoa and spice (vanilla), finishing with delicate smoky notes and toasted oak.
PALATE: On the palate it is flavoursome, elegant and ripe, with a texture full of fruity character and maturity. Excellent balance between structure, acidity and alcohol. A perfect fusion between the flavours imparted by careful oak ageing and the personality of a great Ribera del Duero Tempranillo. Long and complex finish, with lingering notes of ripe black fruit and undertones of dark chocolate.
Emina Ribera is the second winery founded in Ribera del Duero by the agronomist and winemaker Carlos Moro, following Matarromera. A brand characterized by its commitment to quality, innovation, and sustainability. Paloma Moro, the founder's daughter, is the current president of Emina.
The winery produces wines from its own carefully cultivated vineyards. The vines are intelligently monitored; they receive water, fertilizers, or phytosanitary treatments only when strictly necessary. The result is a reduction in their water footprint and respect for local biodiversity.
Commitment to environmental care is a fundamental part of its DNA. In fact, it was the first Spanish company with AENOR certification to measure its carbon footprint. It also holds the Wineries for Climate Protection certification and is part of International Wineries for Climate Action (IWCA), an association dedicated to combating climate change through innovative strategies to reduce carbon emissions.
Emina has two production facilities: one located in the D.O. Ribera del Duero, in the municipality of Valbuena de Duero; and another in the D.O. Rueda. Additionally, it is present in Cigales, and from early 2024, in the D.O. Rías Baixas. In this way, its portfolio encompasses a wide variety of wine types: whites, rosés, barrel-fermented whites, sparkling wines, and reds.
