Emina Ribera has carved out a niche for itself among the great wineries from its privileged location in Valbuena de Duero (Valladolid). Its wines have all the quality and elegance of Matarromera, the parent company, but are more modern in style. Emina Prestigio Club is the version made exclusively for us of the firm’s iconic wine, and belongs to the top of its range. Now comes the Excellent-rated 2021 vintage, which as a novelty displays the Reserva classification. Emina Prestigio Club Reserva 2021 has convinced and fascinated us. Bodegas Emina Ribera has become the most visible face and the headquarters of the prestigious Bodegas Familiares Matarromera group that’s run by Carlos Moro. From there we bring you an exclusive version of its premium red wine: Emina Prestigio Club Reserva 2021, with the guarantees of an Excallent-rated vintage, 100% Tempranillo and carefully aged for 12 months in barrels.
Established in Valbuena de Duero (Valladolid), in one of the most famous areas of the D.O. Ribera del Duero, Emina is a renowned winery that stands for respect for the environment, sustainability, nature and innovation. It also has a must-see Wine Interpretation Centre. The well-stocked Garden of Varieties, the museum, the nearby monastery and the restaurant, among other attractions, share the limelight with the 170 hectares of vineyards the firm controls.
Valbuena de Duero is also the place where Bodegas Familiares Matarromera started out in 1988 with its original Bodega Matarromera. And where the Valdebaniego estate that supplies this wine is located – an old vineyard of enviable quality.
This is how Emina Prestigio Club 2021 came about, the exclusive version for Vinoselección of Bodega Emina Ribera's iconic wine. A red that goes beautifully with grilled pork and stewed vegetables with meat.
Emina Ribera is the second winery founded in Ribera del Duero by the agronomist and winemaker Carlos Moro, following Matarromera. A brand characterized by its commitment to quality, innovation, and sustainability. Paloma Moro, the founder's daughter, is the current president of Emina.
The winery produces wines from its own carefully cultivated vineyards. The vines are intelligently monitored; they receive water, fertilizers, or phytosanitary treatments only when strictly necessary. The result is a reduction in their water footprint and respect for local biodiversity.
Commitment to environmental care is a fundamental part of its DNA. In fact, it was the first Spanish company with AENOR certification to measure its carbon footprint. It also holds the Wineries for Climate Protection certification and is part of International Wineries for Climate Action (IWCA), an association dedicated to combating climate change through innovative strategies to reduce carbon emissions.
Emina has two production facilities: one located in the D.O. Ribera del Duero, in the municipality of Valbuena de Duero; and another in the D.O. Rueda. Additionally, it is present in Cigales, and from early 2024, in the D.O. Rías Baixas. In this way, its portfolio encompasses a wide variety of wine types: whites, rosés, barrel-fermented whites, sparkling wines, and reds.
