General Information

In the Rueda Designation of Origin, Bodegas Familiares Matarromera, founded by the renowned entrepreneur Carlos Moro, has devised a functional winery to make the most of the excellent resources offered, primarily the verdejo variety. The winemaking facility is equipped with state-of-the-art stainless steel tanks and a perfectly conditioned park of French oak barrels, which is renewed annually.

From there, we present to you Emina Fermentado en Barrica 2023, one of the most important white wines signed by Carlos Moro. An elegant wine made entirely from the verdejo variety, which has been fermented and aged for 7 months in new French oak barrels.

Thanks to this thoughtful barrel aging, this verdejo is highly versatile for any pairing, whether with meats or fish. A fantastic wine to accompany an entire meal or dinner. Emina Fermentado en Barrica 2023 is also ideal for pairing with white meats, legumes, and both blue and white fish. A delight for the senses you shouldn’t miss.

Tasting notes

Emina Fermentado en Barrica presents a straw yellow color with golden reflections, appearing clean and bright to the eye.

On the nose, tropical fruit aromas dominate, intertwined with aniseed and rosemary hints, typical of the Verdejo variety, and spicy notes from its time in French oak barrels.

On the palate, it shows great structure, resulting in a creamy, broad, and voluminous wine.

The winery

Bodega Emina Rueda

Integrated into the society Bodegas Familiares Matarromera, Emina is one of the Spanish brands that best embodies the concepts of innovation and sustainability. Emina produces wines in three Castilian appellations: Ribera del Duero, Rueda, and Cigales.

In the D.O. Rueda, it established itself in 2007, the year it built the Emina Rueda winery near the town of Medina del Campo (Valladolid). Here, it produces white wines with verdejo and sauvignon blanc grapes—wines that prioritize fruity expression and are born from meticulously cared-for vineyards.

This is a winery always at the forefront of sustainability, holding the SWfCP Plus certification and being the first to measure the carbon footprint of one of its wines, specifically Emina Verdejo Sobre Lías, which is made with its own yeast. Emina Rueda is committed to wine tourism and offers experiences such as visiting its extraordinary Garden of White Grape Varieties and olive trees.
