The local barrels come from the Olaldea oak forest, very close to the border with France. A very unique wine of which only 2,319 bottles have been produced.
Emilio Valerio Usuaran Graciano de Monte 2016 is an organic red wine made from the Graciano grape and aged in barrels. Manual harvest in 15 kg perforated boxes. Manual selection upon entry to the winery. Complete destemming. Spontaneous alcoholic fermentation with temperature control in wooden vats. Total maceration for 20 days with 2 pump-overs per day and 1 “délestage” at the end. Spontaneous malolactic fermentation. Finally, aged for 24 months in barrels of new and semi-new French and Navarrese oak.
Bodegas Emilio Valerio is run by the Valerio family, with a winemaking tradition dating back to the 16th century. Their vineyards are spread across small plots on the slopes of Montejurra, a massif that continues the famous Rioja Sonsierra. The winery is committed to organic and biodynamic viticulture. During production, each vineyard is vinified separately in concrete tanks or wooden vats, while aging takes place in French and Navarrese oak.
Emilio Valerio Usuaran Graciano de Monte 2016 (D.O. Navarra) showcases all the personality of the Graciano grape: deep, vibrant, dense, complex, and highly original. A great red wine to enjoy now or to keep for a few more years.
