Elo Monastrell 2017 originates from a single vineyard planted in 1973 in Yecla, at over 700 meters above sea level. The early harvest, one month earlier than in neighboring plots, helped maintain the freshness of the grapes and avoid over-ripening. These qualities were preserved during the winemaking process in the winery, with 12 months of aging in French oak barrels, a rest in uncoated cement tanks, and a minimum of 11 additional months of aging in the bottle. The result in the glass is a very elegant and juicy Monastrell with a more Atlantic than Mediterranean profile.
In 2002, the union of the winemaking heritage of the families of Alberto Orte and Patrick Mata gave birth to the Compañía de Vinos del Atlántico, a winemaking giant present in 18 denominations of origin in Spain and Portugal, including Rioja, Ribera del Duero, Toro, Rueda, Rías Baixas, Priorat, Cádiz, Douro, and Alentejano. With the purpose of crafting unique wines that faithfully express the identity of their place of origin, the company boasts some of the best vineyards in these production areas.
