Cune Reserva Mágnum 2019 is one of the classic reds from Bodegas CVNE and a guarantee for wine enthusiasts. Made predominantly from Tempranillo grapes (85%), it harmoniously blends three other traditional Rioja varieties: Mazuelo, Garnacha Tinta, and Graciano.
With over 20 years of age, the vineyards in Rioja Alta that produce this Cune Reserva are harvested manually at the optimal ripeness of the grapes, which are carefully transported to the winery for fermentation and a hot maceration process. After this, the resulting wine undergoes an aging period of 24 months in French and American oak barrels, followed by at least another 12 months of resting in the bottle, in the winery’s cellars, before being released to the market.
140 years of history endorse the Compañía Vinícola del Norte de España (CVNE) as a true wine institution at an international level. One of the first companies dedicated to bottling and exporting in Spain, today it is a group with various brands spread across the entire country.
Belonging to the D.O. Ca. Rioja, and suitable for vegans, Cune Reserva Mágnum 2019 is ideal for pairing with baked fish, legume stews, or aged cheeses.
In appearance, it shows a burgundy color with a pink rim.
On the nose, primary aromas of forest fruits and floral notes stand out, giving way to hints of nutmeg, roasted coffee, and forest echoes.
With a smooth entry on the palate and a long passage, this wine stands out for its long and fresh finish with fruity memories.
The Compañía Vinícola del Norte de España is one of the great symbols of the Estación de Haro neighborhood, the great capital of Rioja wine. Founded in 1879 by the brothers Raimundo and Eusebio Real de Asúa, CVNE (as it is known worldwide) can proudly claim to have remained at the top throughout its history. Ten years after its creation, the winery inaugurated an impressive barrel hall designed by the studio of Alexandre Gustave Eiffel. By 1900, it was already producing nearly 80,000 bottles, an unthinkable feat for the time. The 20th century established CVNE as an institution of Spanish wine.
Over 140 years, it has successfully combined tradition and innovation to create wines that today are the standard-bearers of Rioja reds and have garnered international critical acclaim. Its Imperial Gran Reserva 2004 made history when it was chosen as Wine of the Year 2013 by the prestigious American magazine Wine Spectator, marking the first time a Spanish wine received this recognition.
Since its foundation, CVNE has expanded its heritage and grown with avant-garde projects at different times in its history, such as the creation of Viñedos del Contino or Viña Real.
