At an altitude of over 900 meters, in the Ronda mountain range, the pinot noir grapes that give rise to Cortijo Los Aguilares Pinot Noir 2024 are cultivated. This single-variety red wine faithfully reflects the terroir of the Los Aguilares estate and offers a unique pinot noir full of character. It captivates with its pleasant notes of red fruits and floral aromas, its smooth and complex palate, and its long finish.
In appearance, Cortijo Los Aguilares Pinot Noir shows a pale red color with a violet rim. On the nose, it stands out for its floral notes (violets) followed by hints of fresh red fruit. Discreet and well-integrated wood, offering notes of spices and aromatic herbs. On the palate, the wine is fresh and lively, with a smooth texture and a long finish. Its excellent acidity is surprising.
In 1999, José Antonio Iriarte and his wife Victoria San Gil acquired an 800-hectare estate with crops of cereals, olive trees, and vines, located at an altitude of more than 900 meters above sea level, in the heart of the Serranía de Ronda. That was the origin of Bodega Cortijo Los Aguilares, a winery that is currently one of the most prominent in the D.O. Sierras de Málaga.
In this incomparable setting, with the Sierras de Nieves and Grazalema as a backdrop and benefiting from a unique microclimate, lies the 19-hectare vineyard of Bodega Cortijo Los Aguilares, where native varieties such as tempranillo are combined with foreign grape varieties that have achieved perfect adaptation, such as pinot noir, merlot, syrah, cabernet sauvignon, and petit verdot. From all of these, and with meticulous attention to detail—from organic farming in the vineyard to a winemaking process that blends technology and tradition—they craft high-quality wines that express the unique terroir from which they originate.
