In 1999, José Antonio Iriarte and his wife Victoria San Gil acquired an 800-hectare estate with crops of cereals, olive trees, and vines, located at an altitude of more than 900 meters above sea level, in the heart of the Serranía de Ronda. That was the origin of Bodega Cortijo Los Aguilares, a winery that is currently one of the most prominent in the D.O. Sierras de Málaga.
In this incomparable setting, with the Sierras de Nieves and Grazalema as a backdrop and benefiting from a unique microclimate, lies the 19-hectare vineyard of Bodega Cortijo Los Aguilares, where native varieties such as tempranillo are combined with foreign grape varieties that have achieved perfect adaptation, such as pinot noir, merlot, syrah, cabernet sauvignon, and petit verdot. From all of these, and with meticulous attention to detail—from organic farming in the vineyard to a winemaking process that blends technology and tradition—they craft high-quality wines that express the unique terroir from which they originate.
