General Information

Cortijo Los Aguilares 2023 is the flagship wine of the Bodega Cortijo Los Aguilares, a reference brand in the Malaga wine scene. The native tempranillo and garnacha, along with the foreign syrah, make up this attractive coupage that achieves the maximum and purest expression of each variety thanks to careful vinification using the gravity system, and a 4-month aging in concrete tanks.

In the spectacular surroundings of the Sierras de Nieves and Grazalema, Bodega Cortijo Los Aguilares cultivates its 19 hectares with organic certification, which are the basis for exceptional wines like this Cortijo Los Aguilares 2023 that the Club offers you. An example of respectful and manual viticulture (the harvest was carried out in this way in small 10-kilo boxes) from one of the firms that are part of the prestigious Grandes Pagos de España association.

Tasting notes

Cortijo Los Aguilares is an intense cherry-colored wine with a violet edge.

On the nose, it predominantly features aromas of red fruits (cherry) accompanied by a hint of herbaceous notes and balsamic touches, the latter being a hallmark of the house wines.

On the palate, it is fresh and unctuous, with a refreshing acidity and fine tannins.

The winery

In 1999, José Antonio Iriarte and his wife Victoria San Gil acquired an 800-hectare estate with crops of cereals, olive trees, and vines, located at an altitude of more than 900 meters above sea level, in the heart of the Serranía de Ronda. That was the origin of Bodega Cortijo Los Aguilares, a winery that is currently one of the most prominent in the D.O. Sierras de Málaga.

In this incomparable setting, with the Sierras de Nieves and Grazalema as a backdrop and benefiting from a unique microclimate, lies the 19-hectare vineyard of Bodega Cortijo Los Aguilares, where native varieties such as tempranillo are combined with foreign grape varieties that have achieved perfect adaptation, such as pinot noir, merlot, syrah, cabernet sauvignon, and petit verdot. From all of these, and with meticulous attention to detail—from organic farming in the vineyard to a winemaking process that blends technology and tradition—they craft high-quality wines that express the unique terroir from which they originate.
