Made with the fruits of Pago Cacheiro, a 1.5 ha plot planted in 1965 with Albariño vines, in the heart of Valle del Salnés, La Comtesse Albariño 2019 is the most exclusive Albariño from the Galician winery of Marqués de Murrieta Estates & Wines: Pazo de Señorans.
Its meticulous production, which included 12 months of aging in French oak (3 of them in contact with its lees), followed by another 12 months in concrete tanks, makes the Gran Vino de Guarda La Comtesse Albariño 2019 one of the most outstanding aging Albariños from the D.O. Rías Baixas. A refined and creamy white wine, with an exuberant aromatic range and a fresh and persistent finish.
Conceived as a tribute to the last Countess Dowager of Creixell, grandmother of the current owner Vicente Dalmau Cebrián-Sagarriga, this limited-production single-varietal is ideal for pairing with all kinds of seafood, shellfish, fish, and salads.
The origins of Pazo de Barrantes date back to 1511 and, for five centuries, this Galician palace has been linked to the Cebrián family, who are also the owners of the Rioja-based Marqués de Murrieta. Although viticulture historically played a part in the pazo, it was not until 1991 that Vicente Cebrián Sagarriga, Count of Creixell, began the construction of a modern winery that would harmonize with the spectacular surroundings.
