"In the wines of Marqués de Murrieta, the focus is on the vineyard and the pursuit of elegance and excellence. It is a long-term project with a clear international vocation, supported by a family. Our wines are the result of hard and meticulous work carried out on an estate surrounded by 300 hectares of our own vineyards, called Ygay. The dialogue with Ygay is daily. Our wines begin to take shape in their respective plots, aiming to achieve their maximum expressiveness, concentrated with restraint but at the same time without losing the elegance that is, for us, non-negotiable."
Professional career
In 1986, he moved to La Rioja, to the Ygay estate, where his father owned the Marqués de Murrieta winery. He pursued his studies in Economics, Business Administration, and Law at the University of Navarra in Pamplona, combining them with work at his family’s winery. After five years of studies, he fully joined his father’s project, taking charge of all international trade for Marqués de Murrieta and Pazo de Barrantes.A constant traveler, his open and entrepreneurial character led him from a very young age to hold an important position in the wine world. Although his father’s premature death prevented him from carrying out the renewal he had planned, in 1996, at the age of 26, Dalmau took the reins of the winery and initiated a true wine revolution, instilling the winery with a renewed and innovative spirit.
